our second half rally might have yielded something more satisfying than close game. Haven't seen shooting that poor since the Mounties were dismissed by Gonzaga. 3-17 behind the arc in the opening stanza.

3 Xavier starters not in the game in the 2nd half? Congrats I guess?

I watched some of the first half....Darius George on the herd is a graduate of the local high school...he looks a little timid

What a great moral victory, considering Xavier was without 2 starters the entire game. Put it in the win column for not getting embarrassed.

IF......Marshall fans favorite word. What "if" Marshall was ever in position to rebound ? What "if" Xavier didn't have two starters sitting on the bench the entire game ? What if one of their replacements didn't have to sit out the entire second half ? What "if" they had more than 6 scholarship players available to them last night ? And finally, the old adage that "if you live by the three, you die by the three" certainly proved true in this one.

I guess it was a meaningless game for Marshall since you need to win cusa to make the big dance

I give them credit for getting out of their comfort zone and finally playing a team with a pulse. Even though it was another loss it will look better on their resume than a win over WVIAC teams.

And I agree that given the schedule they play, that the only shot they have to make the big dance is to win their conference tourney. Even after playing the #9 ranked team in the country their strength of schedule is still ranked #234 and their conference slate isn't going to do much to improve that.

I think that's true for every MU game...we always jack up 50 three pointers and live and die with the results.

The thing about jacking up so many 3's is that you have to spread the floor to do it. Probably why Marshall only had 7 offensive rebounds last night, while Xavier snagged 37 defensive boards. Fewer offensive rebounds = fewer second chance points. Part of the reason why every team in the nation doesn't build their entire offensive scheme on shooting 3's.......but Doctrine Danny fully believes in his NBA anylitic BS.

...we rarely gather offensive boards as you point out! This style of play is entertaining and gives us a "puncher's chance" but like you I question whether we can consistently win games, or win enough games to get us into meaningful post season play.
