It was estimated that the US would suffer 1 million casualties in the invasion and defeat of Japan. Taking the 10% rule, 100,000 dead. The Japs had convinced their subjects that the US soldiers would rape and kill everybody so the women and children were going to fight to the death. The Emperor still was hesitant to surrender.I strangely liked Oppenheimer but I'm not sure I'd recommend Oppenheimer.
The reason, they spent 1/2 the movie undermining the debate of why the bomb was actually used. And they attempted to destroy Oppenheimer, the man's life.
And maybe the truth is hard to digest but the bomb Ultimately saved millions of lives & years of torment.
Truman was a bad ass - Even touched on briefly.
Now we have them in the Senate...openly bragging about it .yet...

Great movie. And I can see where imax would add nothing. Not really that kind of movie. It was a very good movie, but I don’t think IMAX added that much to it.
Reviewers were saying “You’ve got to see it at an IMAX.” I watched it for the story and acting.Great movie. And I can see where imax would add nothing. Not really that kind of movie.
