is the best shooter on the team.

From watching the Bahamas games, I would say he is the best player on the team if you look at it from a offense/defense perspective.

Also, Bolden is really good and will be a excellent PG here and he might have played well enough not to be red shirted.

West was impressive but he desperately needs a red shirt, so raw.

Phillip isn't near as good a PG as some have hoped for and that sideways chest past shot he has is 10 kinds of ugly.

Lastly, Esa good at basketball.

Just some thoughts.....

Good stuff.

Agreed Carter injects a huge impact. Brings a lot all around. Outside shooting & steals. & so young. Only to get better & better. Whew, will be a hell of a player by his senior year.

Beetle really shouldn't be redshirted in light of T.Myers unfortunate pending redshirt. True PG depth looking like Tarik & Beetle. Potential, but some inexperience. Tarik may not start & hasn't before & Beetle is yet to log an NCAA minute. Beetle needs to get bigger to handle the physicality of this level. That's something he can control.

Esa so far looks like the high billing and will give productive minutes, especially on offense & passing the ball.

Paige I expect will bring good things. Seems to have a nose for the ball & is a proven shooter. Deceptively athletic & can dunk. Maybe an overlooked possible starter, especially early.

3-guard lineup always interests me. The depth & next man up is a great asset. Everyone has a role & a chance. Merely finding what lineup is hot on a given night.

Huggs also said in the post-trip interview that he can't really afford to play Jevon Carter at PG much because, and now especially with Myers likely to redshirt, Jevon is best when he is off-ball and receiving the pass for a catch and shoot situation.

We have 5 guards to play 80 minutes a game at the 1 and 2............ Phillip and Bolden are likely to get the majority of the minutes at PG now, and Carter, Dax, and Paige splitting SG duties and some of the 3-guard sets.

The goal is get Goard up to speed well enough to still redshirt Lamont West, btw. That means Adrian will see more time at SF, backing up Esa.

carter's minutes at pg will grow as the season goes on

Hard to say Carter has the most potential at PG when his play significantly decreased once he moved into that position last year....... his FG% dropped below 30% when he was PG......... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/3133635/jevon-carter

WVU just needs to play Carter where he is most productive, for the majority of his minutes. Statistically, that is off the ball, catching and shooting while als playing great defense. Keeping him off the PG role allows him to also focus harder on defending.

No doubt, this will come off as some sort of "anti-Carter" stance by me, but I hope he does take the PG spot, after showing he's improved his shot selection from the position. Pushing Phillip to the bench would likely create attrition, since Tarik has his grad-year transfer option in 2016. Having a 4th scholarship in 2016 could be extremely beneficial for us, as we are closely pursuing some elite talent.

Right now, if there is one problem this team has, it is lack of a true leader. I like Philip's toughness and defense but I'm not sold on his decision making or his handles especially if pressed closely by and opposing player.

IMO, Carter has the BB IQ and decision making to play PG but he will be most efficient and productive as the off guard spelling the PG here and there.

Someone has to step up and take the role of Staten and Brown. We lost a lot of leadership in those two and no team does well rudderless.

but when Carter was injected to the PG spot, he went from a 3:1 assist to TO ratio........................... to 1.18/1 (13 assists, 11 TO)
Imagine that .... a Bob Huggins team with point guard problems.

lol... Clown shoes has had to wait two whole tears to post that one

The fact is we have 2 good PG options, and probably the best option being groomed this year in Beetle Bolden

I think Beetle will be a excellent PG. Phillip, notsomuch.

PG by committee is the hard road to go but its been done before.

Love JC, but he needs to play off the ball. He has a little bit of a shaky handle and seems like I remember him being pretty bad about dribbling his way into traps and picking up the ball.

Both Carter and Phillip had a 1:1 assist to TO ratio last season so I think it is an equal match in terms of decision making and taking care of the ball.

Bolden looked great and might be the best PG on the team this year. I am sure there has been no talks of him red-shirting.

Actually if Teyvon would have got here on time, a redshirt for Bolden was on the table of discussion..... But like you said, he is playing his way far from that discussion

Thanks for acknowledging that the past two years are not the norm for a Bob Huggins team.
