Huggins Announces Second Recruit

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (November 9, 2016)
– West Virginia University men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins has announced that D’Angelo Hunter has signed a national letter of intent for the 2017-18 academic year.

Hunter, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound wing from Louisville, Kentucky, currently attends Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, playing for coach Michael Landers. Last season, he closed out the season scoring double figures in the final five games, including 19 points against Kilgore College and 17 points in games at Panola College and against Lee College. As a freshman, he played in 19 games, averaging 8.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

“D’Angelo is getting better and better all the time,” Huggins said. “He plays for a coach who demands hard work and plays the same pressing style as we do. He should be able to make a quick adjustment to our style of play at this level.”

Hunter previously attended Pleasure Ridge Park High in Louisville and St. John Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin. At Pleasure Ridge Park, he averaged 13 points and nearly five rebounds per game. He played AAU basketball for the Louisville Magic.

Hunter joins Brandon Knapper (South Charleston, W.Va., South Charleston HS, Hargrave Military Academy) in the 2016-17 recruiting class.

The November signing period continues through next week.
