How should L. Miles stay @ LSU?

I didn't think he was out a few weeks back but now I believe he's gone. I don't know who LSU has in mind to replace him, but for a guy with seven 10 win seasons in 11 years, they want him out by about all indications. Oh and he won a NC and played for another.
He will have a job in 2 seconds if he wants one. With a $15,000,000 buyout, I wouldn't want one again ever. It's the crazy world of college football.

15 million supplemented by four months of TV money to play college football expert on weekends per year pays for a lot of whatever the Hell you want to do for the rest of your life.

I understand that the contract clause on the buyout is that the dollars are paid out over a period equal to twice the number of years left on the contract. I believe there are four years left, so the payout time is eight years. Only $1,875,000 per year. you are expected to win the national championship every year at Lsu. Lsu currently has more players in the NFL than any other program. 2011 was the last time LSU was in the hunt for the national championship this late in the season.. Yeah, that's only about $40,000 a week. More than most folks make in a year! Who in the hail could live offen only $40,000 a week?
Superficially, it seems LSU has impossibly high standards if you look at Miles' overall record at LSU.
On the other hand, LSU is only 8-9 in the SEC West over the past 3 seasons. It's lost 5 straight to Bama and 2 out of the last three to Arkansas and Ole Miss. It's lost to every SEC West team at least once from 2013-15, except A&M who it still has to play this year.
Now, I consider the SEC West the best division, but at LSU being mediocre against even the best won't cut it. It's more than just not winning titles recently.

What would happen if every team in the nation threw more and more money at their sports program? It would likely result in just as many 'mediocre' teams as we have right now. Am I missing something? Kinda like a dog chasing it's tail or the 'pot of gold' at the end of the rainbow.
Let me see .... you pay a football coach a 100 zillion dollars to coach football in a swamp and he is very successful. He hits a point in his career making megabucks and it looks like maybe his approach is bit more routine than he is motivated. So you give him 100 zillion dollars to get out of the way.
You can't make up this stuff.
He could just be tired of Louisiana. He's from Ohio. It would make sense to me if he is just tired of Louisiana and unmotivated. I spent some time in LA. As I used to tell some people .... I'm from West Virginia and this is culture shock.
Les ... take the money and run. Go fishing. Just put that swamp in the rear view mirror. And if you still want to coach after the smell of corn dogs finally leaves your nostrils then you know you can wait for the perfect job wherever.
I'm beginning to wonder how much longer Urban Meyer will be at OSU. Urban is an Ohio boy too. But you gotta wonder.

I understand why they are doing it. Look at the recruiting classes LSU brings in and the talent they have. No excuse for not having a top ranked offense every year especially QB. LSU fans are tired of his offensive philosophy and Miles refuses to hire an OC and let them have control of the offense. They really have regressed since winng a National Championship and the main thing is at LSU you have to beat Bama

I do believe that question has already been answered because every major team is now throwing much more money at their sports program. Salaries are about 10X what they were 20-25 years ago. What's the biggest difference? Coaches generally make about ten times more money than coaches used to make in comparable jobs. Other than that, not much is different.
What there hasn't been is any large transformation between who used to the best programs and who are now the best programs. Maybe a handful of top programs are now struggling more than they did in the 90s and a smaller handful of programs are doing significantly better than they were generally doing then, but can any of that small change be ascribed to spending or not spending money?

Even the schools that took a recent hit by being shut out of the Power 5 when realignment came, at least in terms of football, are not really poorer than they were a generation ago. Cincinnati, UConn, USF and all of the AAC or MWC schools were not any closer to the upper echelon in 1995 than they are now.
Hugely extravagant salaries and facilities might be needed in this market to maintain position but there is little evidence to suggest they transform programs into better ones. IOW, you have to spend not to get worse but all the spending in the world won't necessarily make you any better.
