How long do you expect it to take WVU to win a Big12 championship?

With all the changes WVU' s football program had/has to adjust to how many years do/did you expect it to take WVU's football program to win a Big12 championship? Personally for me if WVU wins a Big12 championship within 10 years of being a member that's pretty remarkable considering programs like Kansas State only has 1 in 30 years of being a member. Historically only Texas and Oklahoma have won the majority of Big12 championships in football so I'm not sure where this sense of entitlement comes from concerning some WVU fans.

WV may never win a Big 12 championship. I will remain a fan thru the good, bad and the ugly.

When we joined I thought we could contend about 3 out of every 10 years and win maybe 1 of them.

I still think we can get to that level, just not with this coach. Assuming we have a new coach in 2017, who will inherit a very weak roster, it will probably take us at least 2-3 seasons from then to get back to where were in 2011, if we make a good hire.

We will be lucky even to contend before 2019 and we likely won't win one during our first 10 years. Once the next coach rebuilds the program, from 2019 onward, I think we can do what I originally thought.

LMD, I have supported your posts in the past, but the above is un-Mountaineer-like.

I may not think this is the best coach for us either, but to assume he is gone before the 2016 season begins. ...., well.

If Lyons says he is back the best we can do is support the team and run with it. Anything else is counter-productive.

Try reading it again: "Assuming we have a new coach in 2017..."

I got it, all speculative. I'm just in a mellow mood today and think that the right thing to do is let FB season rest and get behind the team for spring practice, hopefully a productive one.

Now, let's take on the B12 conference play in BB and push for a conference championship and an NCAA tourney berth.

LGM!!!!

a good head coach could do it. we'd have to keep recruiting florida - our biggest advantage. have to get back to being a disciplined program.

make a good hire next year. build the program for 2 years

win the b12 in 2018 or 2019

Not saying this to be a jerk, but is KSU what WVU should aspire to be? I have great respect for Snyder, but I think WVU is capable of being a better football program reaching 10 wins in the Big XII a couple times a decade.

I wouldn't venture a guess as to when WVU might win the B12 .... as Ol' Warez sez ... maybe never.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish as high as 3rd within the next 2-3 years.

Look .... OU is gonna be OU ... just the way it is. And Texas will be back sooner or later. Baylor is for real .. ask UNC. And TCU is not a flash in the pan. Then there is OSU, KSU and .... and .... you could have a helluva team and not finish higher than 3rd in this conference. Just the way it is.

It would take a perfect storm for us to win the B12. Remember how everyone picked us to win the B12 our first year in the conference? We didn't come close.
