And WVU only managed 20. Up and down season for a lot of teams, but it is frustrating for the offense to be so anemic at times with the experience it has.

Last week. I know of three turnovers we had where they scored 17 points, stopping our drives. I hate comparing scores, circumstances are always different.

Yeah because every week is comparable to the last.

Answer me this: How did WVU completely destroy TCU but TCU blew out Baylor?

Or does that not fit your agenda?

Just a bad game for WVU. It happens to every team in college football. Usually Bama has one of those games even though it doesn't seem likely this year.

Maybe Baylor is smoke and mirrors and WVU is damned good ?.... re: the OP ...as others mentioned , this is college football and week to week things change...as you've also articulated ....

By OSU against KSU or by WVU last week? KSU stuffs us in our backyard and OSU gets big points on KSUs turf. Don't think turnovers account for that.

First drive KSU scored
First Drive OSU - threw INT / KSU scored
KSU throws INT for TD
OSU throws INT
KSU throws INT at end of game

Both teams scored off Turnovers.

You forgot WVU stuffed KSU as well. 4th Q KSU must have forgotten to stuff because WVU scored 14 and won 17-16.

OSU scored 17 points off turnovers and drives starting inside 10 yard line.

Take a look at scores across the country from yesterday's games. Navy beat Notre Dame. How can that happen? The answer my friend................is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind.

WVU defense played much better than Baylor. WVU played clock control and rattled Hill in the pocket. Baylor did not pressure Hill into mistakes and with the Bears high paced offense, gives extra possessions to the opposition when it doesn't get going. This question was specifically about the offense being pretty anemic at times when it is the side with the most experience. If it's an agenda to question why the offense, which was supposed to be a continuation of the Cactus Bowl and necessary to outscore opponents with a new defense, is not as good as the defense ... then I guess that's my agenda. The real question is, do you care about the answer? This is like the 4th time you've lobbed an irrelevant argument to the topic at hand to which I've responded and then nothing but crickets after.

I did not forget that WVU shut KSU down. The point is that the offense has gone MIA far more than the defense. The D has had some bad series (giving up a TD drive when WVU closed to 20-27 last week comes to mind), but has not had an overall below average game yet that I can see. Whereas the preseason strength of the team on offense has had bad games against KSU and OSU. I'd say below average for the Mizzou game given the opportunities they had in that game.

The defense has performed better than the offense because Tony Gibson is proving to be a very good coach. Gibson is much better than Holgorsen. This is the Chris Petersen Dan Hawkins situation all over again. If Lyons doesn't act and promote the true architect then wvu will pay the ultimate price.

Just wondering if you'll EVER give this crusade up? The team is winning , yet you want to upset the apple cart...troll.

I guess Einstein doesn't feel like talking

Seems that way. Trying to give the poster the benefit of the doubt in that the replies are not childish insults or repetitive assertions presented as undeniable facts. That said, taking pot shots at someone's arguments repeatedly with non-sequitur or reasonings that can be challenged only to fade away isn't exactly great either. If you're going to lob challenges to my posts, but not stand by any of them when I respond ... then why should I even read them? So I'm just trying to see if I should use the ignore feature.

I know this isn't what you are getting at but it seems to me that Skyler Howard is just inconsistent at QB. Sometimes he makes a great throw others are high or just downright off target. Saw it in the Kansas game as well. Our running game (which he is a big part of) is a big part of our success. But when it's not working or we get behind and have to rely on the pass, I get a little scared.

Other than Kansas (or KSU) I doubt Skyler would start for any other team in the Big 12. Think about that for a second. He is a great kid and a true competitor but he is not a great QB at this level. He is getting the job done though as a whole.

I like Dana and want him to stay but IMO the biggest mystery since he's been here how he hasn't been able to recruit a top notch QB to WV. You would think QB's would be drooling to play in this type of offense.

I agree that Howard, despite his guts and great effort, has limitations that keep him from being a great QB. Can't fault him for his hustle or physical limitations, but can fault him on some of his decision making. So how does WVU overcome that? That is a legit question, because I don't know. If the run game is shut down and the defense is not setting up the offense, is there a way to increase WVU's effectiveness? Mix in more full back runs with read option sweeps/pitches? Roll Howard out so he doesn't get happy feet in the pocket or have to throw over a big lineman being pushed back in his face (caveat being is he NEVER throws back across field)?

I thought we moved the ball rather well against OSU. Problem came when we were turning it over and putting them right on our doorstep.

OSU was out for blood against us on their homecoming. You seriously can't compare those scores, or any scores in this league.

Third turnover was when we were really cornered and forcing it down field. The previous 2 were relatively early in drives, so why didn't WVU score on the other drives where the ball was being moved better? I do think the lack of offense was not as much a kudos to the Cowboys as much as ineffectiveness by the Mountaineers.
