NewThe best is to lobby for ACC inclusion as it makes perfect sense as the possibility that they will be raided by either SEC, Big Ten or Big 12. We belong in the east no doubt! We take care of both Louieville and Pitt and win out it could be a sign to the ACC they need to rethink their options!...........................................

When DD has the BB team up to the Standard that we can compete on a regular basis which could be coming faster than most of us think then, entry into the ACC could happen!
Another thought was to really turn CUSA into a National conference that is befitting the name!..................

Marshall has a vision program and is it the right vision that could take the ball and run it out to the max!
Independent's are rare but could we survive and support even that?

even if they did beat UofL & Pitt, ZERO% to even get in the MAC...

I've got to admit that I'm starting to feel sorry for our cousins in Cabell County. CUSA has screwed them over royally, they burned all the bridges with WVU, and it's doubtful that the MAC would ever take them back. Looks like they are going to be one of the first programs to suffer in the new age, the haves vs the have-nots. Too bad for the Herdiots..

They made their bed

Not at first. Had they had the foresight to see that change was coming, things would be different.

WVU made it's statement to join the B12 by beating Georgia at Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, killing Oklahoma in the Fiesta, and knocking off a few P5 teams along the way (Auburn, UNC, Miss State, etc). WVU made sure to market itself as a national brand by also making multiple facilities improvements (which are still happening). What did Marshall do? They focused on beating one team.... which even affected their coaching hire. They failed at that. They played their asses off in 2010 against WVU and didn't give two craps about playing #2 Ohio State the week before. What did they do next? Played nobody. Signature win? Bowl game win vs an injury plagued MD. team.

And now, they are suprised that nobody cares to turn their games on?

They need to make moves, and fast. I am not joking at all. Everything I wrote above is the absolute truth. They are facing D1AA. And I hate to tell you, even if you beat UL, it won't save you. You are way past one win saving you. Running your entire schedule won't save you. I am not sure what I would do if I were them. All I know is that their current path will lead them to several steps backwards.

That's not their biggest problem. Their biggest problem is lack of fan & financial support, locally and nationally. WVU owns and represents this state, despite the few Marshall supporters' pipe dream claims. They know it's nothing but wishful thinking and a very feeble attempt to escape the reality they live in.

Marshall doesn't have and never will have access to what it takes to be a national brand. This state isn't big enough for two national brands. It's barely big enough for one, let alone two. Marshall is at a HUGE disadvantage. WVU is the rock in its road and there is no moving that rock. That's reality, whether its fans accept it or not. If their true goal is to be a national brand. It isn't going to happen and they need to face that reality. I think most do. Even worse, it decided to look the gift horse (which was WVU) in the mouth.

I agree that Marshall may be too big for FCS. I'm doubting it can sustain its status in G5, let alone the P5. CUSA is mostly made up of the "have nots" of "have nots."

It will have to pull a rabbit out of its hat, just to get into the AAC. I'm thinking even that will not happen. How much longer will this state, with an ever-decreasing budget be able to maintain a sports program that runs in the red, while running in the red itself?

CUSA is dying. Marshall wouldn't survive as an independent. In my opinion, its MAC or bust...Bust being FCS.

I agree that Marshall athletics is in trouble whether their faithful realize it or not. CUSA was a huge mistake for them. I also think that AAC wouldn't do them much better. They were a good fit in the MAC and that is their best option provided the MAC would have them back. Other than that it's back to 1-AA for them.

If you are not on tv, you're dead.

beIN network doesn't count . When ESPN is offering you zero dollars, and Fox won't beat that bid, it is quite the indicator that nobody is excited about your schedule or team.

Hell, we got ESPN coverage in the Big East for playing UConn and beating them by 45. If you can't even bring UConn level of interest, you're dead.

Be careful using my screen name, or Rifle's as well. The board bitches get upset, and they may choose to ignore you. Don't ask me why, other than they have DVD. (dripping vagina disease)

Funny how we are getting more for our tier 3 rights than CUSA is getting total for tier 1 and 2 rights.

WVU is not a "national band" and to say you a rep a state that's smaller than the Charlotte MSA is not an overachieving accomplishment

WVU has a very good marching band and has received national recognition. Funny how WVU apparel is the second best seller of college apparel behind UNC in Charlotte. Thanks for playing.

Yes it is. The sheer population of WV wouldn't support a Big 12 invite. If it wasn't attracting viewership from outside the state, it wouldn't be pulling the viewers and dollars it is.

I am not saying WVU is ND or Texas in the top brand category . I am just saying that WVU grabs attention from all over the country.

Walk into any sports bar in the country and show them the Flying WV logo. They know who it is. Ask them what college the Mountaineers are. Better yet, then ask them who the Thundering Herd or the Hilltoppers or the Blue Raiders are..... bet you they get Mountaineers 10 out of 10 times. I had to look up Middle Tennessee's name because I couldn't remember.

People know WVU's brand. Tons of out of state recruits always say they remember watching Slaton, Austin, or Pat White. Every time I go down to Florida or up to Michigan, I always get a Let's Go Mountaineers.

You have no say in this. Most of the country couldn't name the city or state Marshall is in.

P.S. I found a nickel in my driveway this morning. So my driveway is officially worth more than what the national sports networks think YOUR brand is worth.

LMAO, this has to go down in history as the most delusional, yet funniest post in the history of the 'net. Bar NONE.

Dude, You owe somebody 4 cent's change.....[/QUOTE]

I suggest sending the 4 cents to the Marshall Athletic Department........they are going to need it sooner than they realize.

Go to Charlotte and see for yourself. Lots of WVU grads in Charlotte. By hey we have MVU grads here also. The pizza delivery guy was proudly wearing his Marshall shirt when he brought me my pizza the other night.
