Republicans in the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that would abolish the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), eliminate the national income tax, and replace it with a national consumption tax.

Fox News Digital has learned that the House will be voting on Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter's reintroduced Fair Tax Act that aims to reel in the IRS and remove the national income tax, as well as other taxes, and replace them with a single consumption tax.

The vote on the bill was made as part of the deal between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and members of the House Freedom Caucus and was pushed forward in his quest for the gavel.

"Cosponsoring this Georgia-made legislation was my first act as a Member of Congress and is, fittingly, the first bill I am introducing in the 118th Congress," Carter said in a press release exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.

"Instead of adding 87,000 new agents to weaponize the IRS against small business owners and middle America, this bill will eliminate the need for the department entirely by simplifying the tax code with provisions that work for the American people and encourage growth and innovation," Carter continued.

"Armed, unelected bureaucrats should not have more power over your paycheck than you do," he added.

"As a former small business owner, I understand the unnecessary burden our failing income tax system has on Americans. The Fair Tax Act eliminates the tax code, replaces the income tax with a sales tax, and abolishes the abusive Internal Revenue Service. If enacted, this will invigorate the American taxpayer and help more Americans achieve the American Dream," Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., said.

"I support the Fair Tax because it simplifies our tax code. This transforms the U.S. tax code from a mandatory, progressive, and convoluted system to a fully transparent and unbiased system which does away with the IRS as we know it. It is good for our economy because it encourages work, savings, and investment. Thank you to my colleague Rep. Buddy Carter for leading this effort to simplify the system for American taxpayers," Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., said.

"I’m very proud to once again co-sponsor the FairTax Act," Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., said. "We’ve seen a continued growth of the IRS and a persistent punishment of hardworking Americans via the tax code. What we’re calling for is a simplified and fair code that works for all, not just some."

"I urge my colleagues to support this commonsense legislation that fights back against the weaponization of the IRS and stops punishing those who work hard to succeed," she added.

Specifically, the bill gets rid of the national personal and corporate income taxes and abolishes the IRS — which is slated to hire 87,000 new agents unless congressional Republicans can stop it — as well as implements a national sales tax.

Additionally, the bill gets rid of the death, gift, and payroll taxes, and would replace the current tax code with a national consumption tax.

Eleven co-signers signed onto the bill including Cammack, Duncan, Good, Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., and House Freedom Caucus chairman Scott Perry, R-Pa.

The bill illustrates the hardline stance House Republicans are taking with Pedo-Joe's administration and their policies expanding the federal government, including new funding for 87,000 IRS positions.

Would love to hear from the board democrats why this is a bad thing .
It won't pass the Senate right now and truthful I don't think it ever will. Takes way to much power and control from them .... both sides included.

Agreed...BUT...If The People wake up, they can start electing candidates who are for it. Just getting it to the floor is huge. This would have never made the floor without the holdouts and certainly not under Democrat control.

Yes! Yes!! and I say again YES!!!!!! It may never pass the Socialists in the Senate, and of course if it did creepy Joe would never sign it, but that is instantly one of Trump's primary campaign planks he can run on in '24 asking for a GOP dominated Congress to finally get it passed and signed into Law. Meantime we get a whole year to educate the sheeple on how eliminating the income tax and scrapping the IRS means economic freedom for all Americans who aren't mind numbed Socialists.

I’m good with that. Ain’t going to happen though. And the hiring of 87k IRS agents to audit middle class Americans is BS.

But I’d certainly be fine not paying income taxes.

This is not an answer as you cannot answer a question via asking a question.
If we do away with income tax and replace it with a consumption tax. -- What cache will go to pay the Government Salaries? It has nothing to do with left or right as both sides will be affected the same way. Congressional Salaries, perdiem etc will be a great strain on the governmentcoiffers. Now add other governmental expenses and it balloons even more. Besides that a consumption tax could be well hidden.

HUH??
Money IN is money available for c overing expenses. Many studies have supported this avenue for years and shown that the necessary operating resources would still exist under a consumption/Use tax system.
Some will argue that we toss thousands of employees out of jobs by doing away with the IRS. The same happens every day though, what we refer to as, modernization. This has been happening for generations. What happened to the Ice House employees when everyone abandoned Ice chests in favor of refrigeration? They got absorbed into other occupations. The IRS workers can AND WILL find other employment. Remember that one argument for illegal immigration is that we, as a Country, are not provide g enough workers for the work needing done. Not rational to argue the same question from both sides.

I was not referring to only to a certain type employee -- Who will pay for the expenses of the Congressional Delegation when they travel to their normal residence from their "home Offices". Most of them maintain two or more households and travel back between, their homes and the Office? How many of them make those trips, and how much of and the expense is footed by Income Tax from paid by American Taxpayers? Not meant to be argumentative, Ijust don't see a consumption tax raising enought revenue to pay the bills.

Most of those potential hires are earmarked to replace IRS agents quitting over the next 10 years. Yes. Its BS.
how did they rehire vacancies prior to the newly approved 87K?

Yes it is BS to say they are earmarked for a 10 vacancy.

that is not how the government replaces vacancies.

You see the amount of money people spend at the coffee shop these days .... people have no problem spending . A consumption tax is the best way to go . Everyone pays their fair share.

add a tax to every text and every post on twitter/face book and say we will give it to the post office but give it to politicians.

Kind of like we say tax on tobacco goes to treat tobacco related illnesses, but don't.

Virtually every county in this country runs on a consumption "retail sales" tax. They get X amount off every dollar spent within their boundaries...some like the county I live in Georgia have budgets of hundreds of billions of dollars!

A national retail sales tax would be plenty to fund the essential duties of Government. Why can't we have citizen legislators who pay their own damn expenses?

excerpt:
The FairTax is a national sales tax that treats every person equally and allows American businesses to thrive, while generating the same tax revenue as the current four-million-word-plus tax code. Under the FairTax, every person living in the United States pays a sales tax on purchases of new goods and services, excluding necessities due to the prebate. The FairTax rate after necessities is 23% compared to combining the 15% income tax bracket with the 7.65% of employee payroll taxes under the current system -- both of which will be eliminated!
