My favorite Rod Hundley story, as told by the man himself.
Hot Rod is talking with Rod Thorn, and the conversation inevitably turns to WVU's golden era of 1955-63. Thorn, who has lived in the shadow of the two 1st team All Americans who preceded him in Morgantown, says to Hundley, "You know Rod, I've studied the records and watched old film, and I really believe that I was the second best basketball player ever at West Virginia University." Hot Rod replies, "That's just not right, Rod. Everybody knows that Jerry West was the second best ever Mountaineer.
Runnerup: Hot Rod "The Lakers are going to retire my number (33) just as soon as Kareem Abdul Jabbar is done with it."
