Hoping for a turnaround like in 2003

There are a couple of interesting similarites between this year and 2003. We lost badly at home to a good Wisconsin team. Then lost a horrible game to Cincinnati team and got pummeled by a McBrien led Maryland team to get out 1-3.

Richrod kept saying how close we were to getting the offense clicking vs the Terrapins but it was hard to take him seriously. Then we played a Miami that finished the year at #5 on a Thursday night. Quincy got us the lead with under two mnutes to play on one of the best runs of all time. But UM converted on 4th down and 10 and beat us with a field goal.

More to the point, WVU ran the table in the regilar season that year and despite losing in the bowl to Md. Managed to end at 8-5. I am hoping for better but at this point that does not sound too bad to me if we get there in 2015

Forgive me, EnginEER, but I don't really see any similarities so far between 2003 and 2015. It should also be noted that was not an especially good Wisconsin team, with 7-6 tying their worst record of the past 14 seasons.

However, it would certainly be great to enjoy a similar turnaround over the back half of the year. Remarkably, our remaining schedule in 2015 actually could be slightly easier than the one in 2003.

The 2003 squad had to defeat 3 different 8-5 teams during their 7-game winning streak, including the memorable road win at BC on the big day for backup QB Charles Hales.

It's entirely possible we might face only 1 or 2 more teams who will win at least 8 during the rest of the conference slate, so you make a good point that the door is open for a late run.

Well, I would agree that the teams we have lost to(so far) are better then the teams we lost to in 2003. But I would also say that, aside from Kansas, the remaining teams are a bit better, even accounting for the BC team, no matter what their finals records may be.

The main thing the team did in 2003 was to get better as the season went along. And it seemed like the Thursday night game against a top 5 team was the catalyst, in spite of the loss.

So I suppose my point is that I would like to see us turn it around-- preferably win a win at TCU. But if that is not in the cards, WVU ought to win games where we have superior talent and land with 8-ish wins.
