At the beginning of the second half of the UNI game, UNI spread the floor and made it a 1 on 1 game driving to the hoop time after time. There was rarely any help as UNI's other players were far from the basket and being closely guarded, denying all passes. This was how UNI built the big lead.
Against WSU we seemed to have the big guys sagging back more of the time so those driving lanes were not open. WSU settled for pull up jumpers, floaters, and lower percentage shots. We still challenged some passes far from the basket, but not as aggressively and not overplaying them so much.
Was this a change in the defensive scheme or was it just that we didn't feel the need to guard the WSU bigs at the 3-point line?
