I think you guys have finished with 10 wins for like 3-4 years now. I honestly don't know. My question as it relates to that impressive accumulation of wins is why is Doc still the coach? Conventional wisdom is when a coach proves themselves in the G5, they are pretty quickly snapped up by a P5 team looking for the next "sure thing".

So, given his proven track record of success, why is he still there?

Umm because he is almost 60 and lives close to home and schools know it would be hard to pry him away unless it's a great situation.

If you haven't noticed any Almost all of the P5 hires this year was young coaches

Dude has been offering his services to several programs for a couple years now

I think the better question is why did Ollie think Dana Holgerson was a better choice than Bill Stewart. And when do you think he'll get you to that next level like Ollie said he would?

Hard to pry him away! HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHA! If an AAC team offered Doc a million bucks, he would be gone faster than you can say meth cook...

It's a nice problem to have, wondering if your coach would leave compared to knowing noone is wanting your current coach. I'd rather have our problem than your problem.

So, you prefer to know that no one wants your coach?!? Would you prefer a fat, disgusting wife, too, since you wouldn't have to worry about her leaving?

Neu hired at Ball State is 45 - didn't know that was young.
Texas State hired Everett Withers - he is 52.
Mark Richt, 55.
Bill Cubit, Illinois, 62.
Matt Viator, ULM, 52.
Tracy Claeys, Minnesota, 47.
Will Muschamp, SC, 44.
Dino Babers, Syracuse, 54.
Willie Fritz, Tulane, 55.
Bronco Mendenhall, UVA, 49.

Pitt hired Pat Narduzzi last year at age 48 instead of Doc at age 58. I'm sure it was because of Doc's age.

It was an honest question. I phrased it in a respectful manner, and it's something I was genuinely curious about. I don't follow your program any more, not since the scoreboard ticked 00:00 and the 7 year handout was completed.

So, is the answer because he's too old?

He's 20 minutes from home making 700 k per year. Why leave that? He's built one program back up why go through it again

I actually have a good answer for this.

Dana, at the time, was a hot shot offensive coordinator. He is still a great offensive mind. I am not sold on him as a HC, but I think he needs to give up some of his duties to an OC in order to prove me (any many others) otherwise. If he improves next season, I'll admit I was wrong.

All you Herdies look at is 9 wins for Bill Stewart. You didn't look at how ridiculous the losses were. You didn't consider the horrible offensive performances we had with Bill. Heck, we struggled with Marshall for crying out loud. MARSHALL! That is the game that sealed his fate. Not to mention, he was only bringing in 18-19 player recruiting classes, and half of them weren't qualifying. He would constantly go out of his way to praise the Big East.... which was a couple seasons away from crumbling. It is all moot, anyway. Bill Stewart died several years ago. We would have had to hire a new coach anyway.

Translation: Weakened the program's schedule just enough, to put the delusion back in Huntington.

If he were half as good as Marshall fans dream, he wouldn't have gone to Marshall to begin with. Anyway, why would he leave a $700,000 salary job close to home?

Easy...To make more than twice that somewhere else. Nobody wants him though. Playing weaker schedules than some FCS teams to get fluffy wins doesn't fool many outside the Cabell County line.

It's a fair question Dog. I would say the focus on SOS lately and selection of other head coaches in the available pool have kept Doc where he is. Also, the inability to out coach Frank Solich and other scattered games we have lost that we shouldn't further decrease Doc's desirability factor. Then add to that if he's a coach a school is kinda/sorta considering, his age does hurt him.

I think if we would have gone undefeated last year (as we should have) and made it to an Access Bowl, someone would have overlooked those factors and gave him the chance.

He's built one program back up

What program is that?
Surely you don't mean Marshall? Marshall is up?? BWAHAHAHAHA

Say what you will about our record and Holgo and everything else, but we haven't deluded ourselves into thinking we are "up". LOL. Nobody is satisfied with our record.

You play a schedule WORSE than at least 11 FCS schools, and think your program up???

Easy little brother...Might have to play on the gridiron again one day....It's one thing to claim moral victories and it's another to back them up.

As Marshall fans know all too well.....0-12

Run along, little brother....You better stick to ant-ball.
