ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit names WVU’s Karl Joseph in the “unsung warrior” category in his 15th annual Herbie awards.
Ohio State is sprinkled throughout his selections, not because Kirk played for the Buckeyes but became OSU is the defending national champs and has three quarterbacks who would start for any other team in America.
The Herbies Preseason Special will tonight at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 and WatchESPN. I assume we’ll see video or photo highlights of Joseph on the show.
Other Big 12 Herbie selections:
Baylor’s Shawn Oakman for “looks the part,” whatever that means. Baylor’s Seth Russell is tabbed as a “breakout star.”
But Oklahoma is picked to win the Big 12, which may surprise TCU fans whose team generally is being ranked #2 nationally.
And Herbie predicts that Ohio State will repeat as national champions against Oklahoma, LSU and Arizona State (not the Arizona school that Rich Rodriguez coaches, which would relegate Rich to no better than #2 in the state of Arizona).
