Hard to believe Dana makes about the same salary as Dabo...

If you would have told me after we beat down Clemson that they would be playing for a National Championship and WVU would nosedive I would have laughed. Amazing what a great coach can do for a program. Must be nice being a High Information Fan of Clemson

Yeah...............they make about the same salary...................give or take a couple of million. Dabo making about $80,000 a week and looking for a huge raise. That's a new car a week more than Holgs makes.

I think you meant "give or take a few hundred"...

Didn't we lose three games that year in a very bad Big East conference?

You can't compare Dabo and Dana....Clemson recruits are on another level than our recruiting classes. You give Dana the same recruits and he would be playing for a championship. College football is 90% recruiting...not sure why people have such a hard time understanding that.

Math isn't you strong suit, is it? Dabo makes $3.3 M and Dana makes $2.88 M.

Well.............Dabo told me he wouldn't work for less than $5M! Dabo also sees to it that his coaches are paid well and thusly directs money to them that would otherwise have been GIVEN to him. Now...................why you wanna go on the attack?

And he constant ripping into our coaching staff (and HC in particular) does NOTHING to help recruiting. In real fact recruits (and their families) read the garbage from numerous folks on sites like this one, and they choose to take their game elsewhere. The 'slash and burn fan' then complains that we don't win consistently. Low information fan (or, maybe better called--IGNORANT) has a lot to do with recruiting success and that success carries over directly into program success. Too many thick skulls among us who claim to want our programs to succeed and then do everything within their power to insure that never happens.

What is your proof that recruits read whats posted on here? Winning also helps recruiting and if you beat teams that your supposed to beat people will complain less

8th highest paid in the big 12. Finished 4th and 5th last 2 years. Yep. A bargain. Want better results? Pay more. Period.
You really are the most idiotic, most hypocritical poster in the history of this board. Your messiah is the third worst coach remaining in the Big 12. What a bargain, hypocrite...

You can bring in the most respected and highest paid coach in the world and not get more than 7-8 wins a year for your ca$h...................get over it. Money won't buy you love............nor will it buy wins for WV. Be happy with what you have. You will never know the difference in 100 years.

This from the troll here for the purpose of wrecking WVU's athletics? Really? You try to steer away recruits daily--why do you do it if you don't think it has any effect?

Well recruiting is a huge part of coaching in college and Dabo is fantastic at it while Dana is decent but certainly not great. It shouldn't be that much easier to recruit to Clemson, it's a cow town in bumf*ck South Carolina and our programs have similar history.

Here's a significant difference. South Carolina has 20 three star and 4 star prospects. West Virginia has one. Georgia, the neighbor to the east, is a major source of quality prospects.

Maybe one day, if you ever move out of your mom's basement, you will understand what the phrase one of the worst means. Dana is 8 out of 10. There are only two worse coaches than Dana remaining. You are clearly a part of the participation trophy generation...

OK, but they have USCe as in state competition while WVU has none. Either way, WV borders MD, PA, OH, and has solid inroads to Florida, NJ, etc.

A great coach can sell the program and get great recruits which Dabo has done and I commend for it even though I think he's a douche bag. I'm not trying to take a shot at Dana, but it's obvious Dabo Swinnney it's a much better coach and CEO of a major football program.

Paper and Punisheer are both morons. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if it's the same person making those posts, a jekyl and hyde type thing. Basically, a total sociopath.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these Dana homers weren't the same Holgorsen relative, with multiple handles...

Amen to that!

If only we had an airport.

I think it is petty to complain about someone's salary. It is fair game to be critical of performance.

Until recently, WVU paid its coaches well below market rates. You should be happy and proud that WVU is able to compete now in the marketplace for its coaching hires.

I am happy that we have the money to pay our head coach an assistant coaches, but when there are much better coaches making 1/6th the salary of Holgorsen, I would like for us to get a little better value for our money...

It's not just the homers it's the haters also. Dana is not as great or as terrible as these idiots think he is. He has good qualities and he has his shortfalls, and unfortunately they have evened out and produced a mediocre record during his tenure.

I like Dana and he's a good guy, but I'd prefer him as an OC and I think that's where he does his best work.

Honestly, I gave Dana a lot of credit, during the four game winning streak. He was actually using the talent he had intelligently, instead of constantly trying to force a square peg into a round hole. I thought that he had finally matured as a head coach, and that we would be pretty good moving forward. Then, I saw the Kansas State game, where it looked like it was back to the same Dana Holgorsen of the past.

Holgorsen has proven that he can be an effective offensive coordinator. Holgorsen could probably be a good head coach. The problem is, I don't think he can do both at the same time. Hopefully I am wrong, we win tonight, and go into next season with a little momentum. We are playing a decent team, with a decent coach.

I appreciate that you can discuss things civilly, and try to see both sides of the picture. I honestly think that the constant spewing of personal attacks and attempts to shut down any discussion by the Holgorsen Defense Force sours my opinion of Holgorsen more than Holgorsen himself...

Dana told me he just couldn't make it on OC pay. He done got used to the good life. Trains and boats and planes, etc.

both programs headed in opposite directions after stewart's roster destroyed clemson up in the orange bowl. and it could have easily been wvu in the playoff, instead of clemson, this year if not for one twist of fate...

oliver hired dana instead of someone like tom herman.

agree 100%. i mean what is the point of being rude on a message board?

Paper.......................I heard you were barred from posting. By the way........it's Clem(p)son. One more thing.............I didn't know you were a Stewart fan. Good for you! I was too.

me barred? nope. and i'll tell you why... i dont do the personal attacks. i try to be civil, even though my opinions are controversial. and i ignore, for the most part, childish posts

Clemson is getting a big bang for their buck. Here's their recruiting classes since our game with them...and to think they are up against all those big boys in the SEC for this talent. I know we are too, but when we go north, east and west of Motown for about 250 miles we don't have the same pressure from those schools...mainly OSU, PSU, UMD and Pitt.
