I'd this is a tremendous preparation for March Madness and an opportunity to be a #2 seed, at least.

not exactly on topic,

but florida is an away game, against a team that is playing well, a team these wvu players don't know.

a lot like a tournament game.

Exposed as what? A top 10 team?

Oh look... ...my favorite stalker.

Do I really need to explain 'exposed' when compared to the opening post ?

While you do annoy me with your attempts at humor I actually think you're of an average intelligence... ...so I suggest you save your comedy routine for family and friends who may be more forgiving of your lame comments.

Amen! I love it! Better than the old Big East, and I never thought I would think that because the old Big East was #1 nationally. Now the Big 12 is. WVU has been in both, too.

i'll take some flak from the worst homers for this but ....please stop... it's a historically down year for cbb and that's what you see.

the b12 should not be mentioned in the same sentence as the old big east. ul, cuse, uconn, gt, nova, and even pitt all had final four quality rosters year in, year out.

Things that are a proven fact:

WVU plays a tougher conference schedule now than it ever did in the Big East

WVU plays less games in conference vs sub-500 opponents than it ever did in the Big East

WVU plays more conference games vs top 50 RPI opponents than ever in the Big East

Our current conference puts a higher percentage of the conference teams in the NCAA Tournament (7/10) than the Big East did in its best year (2012) when it put 11 of 16 teams in the Dance

WVU plays more NCAA Tournament-level opponents in conference now than it ever did in the BE

Number of times WVU played a 20-win+ opponent in conference play last season - 10 times

And in 2012, the BE's strongest year - 10 (ND twice)

this is why intelligent posters have a bit of a problem ...

you post your stats as if they are the best, the international standard, way to measure conference strength. and then you throw in your opinion of the be strongest year as if it were another "proven fact"

most on these boards eat it up, so carry on

I agree with this. Florida is the same quality of team WVU will see in the tournament.

So you're more than welcome to counter....

In 2012, 11 of 16 teams in the BE made the NCAA Tournament.... How is that not the best indicator that it was the league's best season?

Honestly, 2012 gives your argument the highest benefit of doubt..... I could choose another year if you'd like....

your premise is a conference is measured by its worst teams. i'll dispute that

How about 2009, the year the Big East registered 3 #1 seeds........

WVU played 8 games in conference against opponents of the 20+ win variety

And 6 games against sub-500 opponents

Again, last season - 10 games vs 20+ win teams in conference and 4 games against sub-500 teams

yeh, i will

lol

Disputes require counter arguments stronger than "if you disagree you're crazy"

So dispute that there is a better measure of a conference's overall quality than by examining the bottom group and the top (sub-500; 20+ wins)

ha...it is a matter of opinion

but i'll go with the conferences top 3 quarters

7 to 8 teams annually? really? lunardi has 6 in now... and this is a great year for the conf

The old Big East had tremendous depth, but the unbalanced schedule, and total ineptitude at the bottom (RU, SHU, PC, USF, SJU, and DePaul were comical pretty much year in and year out) is something that the Big XII doesnt have which I like. That said, even with some strong years out of the Big XII, the conference is still KU's property until someone knocks them off. Them winning it 12 years in a row is flat out embarrassing for the other programs in this league, and of all of the rest of the programs, if Im not mistaken were the only other school with a Final Four in the past 10 years, Texas and OK State had one each a little bit prior to that. So the strength at the top is lacking with this year being an outlier with OU showing some big time strength. I am 1000% certain that KU would never have sniffed 12 straight conference titles playing the likes of Syracuse, Georgetown, Villanova, Pitt, UConn, Cincy, Marquette, Notre Dame, and ourselves on an annual basis, way too much quality in the top half of the league for any single team to dominate for a decade+ straight.

I personally preferred the old Big East for hoops because most teams were driving distance and we had some type of history with most of the members, the Big East Tournament, and it wasnt a 1 team show, but I could see how some would prefer the Big XII with essentially 9 of 10 programs that are quality programs (the one outlier being TCU), making every game much more important opposed to the Big East where you can catch a 3 game stretch of snoozers vs Rutgers SHU and Providence over the course of 2 weeks.

7 teams each of the 2 years in the B12. But even at 6/10.... More than every year other than 2012 for the BE

Meanwhile, the Big East averaged 7 NCAA bids the last decade of our participation.... That's just about 50%

that's a nice 2 year run. i prefer the conference with 5-6, sometimes 7-8, teams capable of making the ncaa championship

WVU is doing great so far, but many more very tough games remain without a doubt.

Hopefully they can build towards a good seeding in the NCAAs the rest of the way out.

12 wins and 6 losses may just be the mark for a team that wins the Big 12. If this is the case WVU only need to be 6-4 for remainder of conference games to win or split the title.

The thing with our old Big East was the number of quality teams. Heck the year Walker drug UCONN to the National Title they finished like 9th place during regular season. Looking at Providence and a couple of those Big East teams in the he top 20 are a joke IMO. Those teams didn't do Dick until the real Big East broke up. Looking at Providence around top 10 is a sham. Even Villanova is over ranked.

Come on admit it you like me. I'm not stalking you. I'm flirting with you!!! I'd do lunch with you anytime!!! It's all good. No worries. Seriously I'll stop. Take care.

Just don't get it. WVU is having a great year in a great conference that is also having a very good year--but there are people on this board who pretend to be WVU fans and are putting down the team and putting down the conference?

What's the point of pretending to be a WVU fan then if you don't even care or enjoy the good times? Some of these people must be miserable wretches.
