Yeah, sad news! One of the Kentucky headhunters along Chris Deaton. It's probably a good thing wvu is opening up their season at home. ( I guess Phil Ratliff had a heart attack yesterday.)
One thing for sure, Vegas will be open for buisness!I don't think so. With that offense, replacing 4 starters on the OL, the first game of the season against athletes like ours ... I wouldn't expect them to do well offensively.
Defensively, it seems they are replacing quite a bit from a unit that didn't do very well against P5 athletes last year in the first place. They will have to try to cover our receivers (Holgs calls Shelton Gibson the fastest receiver he's ever coached which is saying a lot), as well as defend our run game ... plus Howard will be more free to run himself so they'll be trying to defend a running QB as well.
Appy St. beat Michigan, so anything can happen ... but I see us covering the spread unless we just stay very vanilla and don't show too much.
I watched the NC State game last night and that game was just horrible. Aside from the one nice run to put Southern up 7-0, the first half was unbearably bad. I liked that the Eagles didn't make any huge mistakes that half, but there was a reason the announcers kept reminding everyone that State had lost 8 straight. In the second half GSU looked utterly gassed, but for at least another quarter the Wolfpack encouraged their opponent to please win the game. In the end NC State did just enough (barely) to win. If I had watched it live I would have been cheering against NC State, but if that game is an indicator for where this Southern team is at, then losing the players they did will hurt them badly in 2015 (although there big play ability will still keep them on top or near the top in their conference). One thing for sure, Vegas will be open for buisness!

If any of the GSU pretende... uh, faithful are here, how many scholarships are the Eagles allowed this season?
Extra scholarships should certainly help. I watched the first half of the GA Tech game and plan to finish it off at some point, but wow... they scored on all but their last possession and it didn't look like they were trying to hard to move the ball. I know things change year to year, but your passing game in six quarters has looked completely awful. I can see why you do well in the Sunbelt... your ability for big plays is always there, but I think it hurts you against better competition. I might watch a Sunbelt game just so I can better enjoy your offense.85 scholarships.
The D did look gassed last year in the second half of that game. The Eagles have more experince along the D line going into this year than last year. Also our corners should be better this year.
