Got to get bigger, get back to that 6'7+ lineup (a la 2010), if we want...

.to compete for a championship. esa is a great start

but it's not just us, this year. kentucky dwarfs every team left in the tournament. i think okafor (he is awesome) gives duke a shot, but it's a slim one

They have 4, 7 footers. Tall everywhere else too. Most teams including us would die for one talented 7 ft guy.

They would beat many NBA teams with their lineup.

Size is part of it......

more than anything, Huggins needs to make shooting a bigger part of his game. Year in and year out, the season ends with us reflecting on our shooting woes.

Yeah, because we know they don't practice shooting enough already.....

Some of you seem to think that all we do in practice is work on defense and rebounding. Some players can shoot, some can't. No matter how much practice that's how it is.

Great point..... good shooting makes up for a lot of deficiencies...

teams like Notre Dame, Gonzaga and Wisconsin prove that point.

Honestly this team could have gone further if we didn't run into Kentucky. We won 25 games with our two point guards out for 4 games. This was a very good team, however pressing teams do not traditionally match up well with superior athleticism. Does not mean we should abandon the press, Louisville has gone to many Final Fours and won a championship as a program built around a full court press, however if we do not match up athletically, nights like last night can and will happen from time to time.

I think if we landed in Villanova's region we could have made the Final Four. I think next year if we have everyone back, and a good to great college PG emerges we can be right in the mix for a Final Four and potentially a championship with the right breaks.

You do realize we don't shoot well....

Even Huggins said it. And practice isn't necessarily going to fix it. But you can make it a higher priority during recruiting.

These should do the trick.

We can come up with a bunch of great ideas and then give them to the Huggins.

I am sure this is in jest but they would get blown out like we did if they played the worst NBA team. I met DeSean Butler a few earlier this year and he mentioned just how much of the gap was in athletic ability vs. NBA teams. He said he had an easier time adjusting from high school to college.

I get that nobody on here watches the NBA anymore but it's a far better product and the athletes are head and shoulders above the NCAA level.

I started this earlier .... I agree we could have beaten any other teams but Kentucky on any given night.

There is 1 great team, 4 very good teams and 15 good teams.

No one is going to beat Kentucky this year.
It is a freak show of size and talent.

I agree.... We play anyone else and we could beat them.

I don't think we would beat the 4 very good teams the majority of the time but we would beat them.

I give Huggins credit for recognizing very early that this team could not compete in a traditional sense with many more talented teams and that a different approach was necessary. He has said many times that the only way this team could level the playing field and have success was to have more attempts at scoring. The times this did not occur resulted in lopsided losses. This team from a talent stand point is no where near a top 16 team in the nation and the one of the many reasons they were able to have the success was the foresight and excellent coaching Huggins demonstrated through out the season. Both Huggins and this team deserve accolades for their over achieving efforts and an excellent season. Not sure what's next, but it was fun.

It's not like we have a CYO team and Huggs acumen made them a Sweet 16 team. The gameplan for this team was great but outside of Staten and Browne they were very inexperienced. These guys will all be a lot better next year, we need to have a good offseason with no transfers or trouble and we'll be primed for a big run next season.

I am with you to a point. However there comes a time when all the experience in the world will not match up with far superior talent and size.

I think DW and maybe 1-2 of the guards can emerge into NBA caliber players, if that happens were right up there with the best of them.

agree with 79er......maybe we are top 20-30 in talent. I think the press system gave us the opportunity to win against some more talented teams.

Kentucky has 10, A and B + ranked players......we have 10, B and C players.

Barkley said it best before the game when saying both teams ran ten players in.....However, He chuckled saying, our second five ain't close to Kentucky's second five. He is right.

I am proud of our guys and what they did. I am impressed Huggins recognized this was the best way to get wins from a talented but not great team of players.

The guys played hard and ran the system. I think they over achieved based on their talent. Yes, if we played some team other than Kentucky we might have made it to the elite 8.

Hey...we will never know...:)

I'm sure Huggins is now and always has recruited the best of the best including the one and done ones as well.

Maybe we should get some of'm. Do you honestly think Huggins doesn't recruit them? If he doesn't he's an idiot. Those are the guys who win championships. A whole team full of lower level talent gets you to sweet sixteens and elite eights. Can you name one team over the last 15 years who won a championship without multiple NBA level guys on it? We have none of those on our team.

Paperboy..............West Virginia (the entire state) doesn't have the cash to compete for a National anything .......... much less basketball and football. It takes the jack to play with the high rollers and WV doesn't have it. Even if the university had the jack.................I would hope clear heads would keep them from throwing it after a sporting game!

Second biggest actually. Only the Portland trail blazers would be bigger.

i had not looked at the roster. i watch a lot of nba and figured the blazers and bucks were bigger. watching comparatively tiny teams now, ucla and zaga.

in all honesty, kentucky is bad for the ncaa. the one and done rule has to be changed.

No they wouldn't....they have 5 or 6 NBA guys...the worst NBA team has 12

Not really, this has been the most press the tournament has gotten in over a decade.
