Good times in Houston for Dana Holgorsen

Wow....is there anyone reading this that isn't glad that POS is gone.

Wonder how Dana would react if a coach treated his precious Logan that way.

Thought I was going to hear about Dana doing lines of cocaine with the players.

Murphy has a questionable past. UCLA helped him get a sixth year of eligibility than he told them to screw off.
I think Murphy wanted to be with a program who was going to compete so he could win something his last year.
But at his age he should have known better. This guy is a college graduate plus has a real estate license in Texas and California so he should have known better.

Holgs is actively tanking his first season. Unfair to the players already there.

Murphy wasn't already there.
Dana is a drunk and a possible cocaine user so I wouldn't expect much from him.
But Justin Murphy transferred in from UCLA after Dana was hired.
He picked Cougar High and Dana. Actually screwed over UCLA. They helped him get a sixth year of eligibility and then announced he was going to transfer a few days later.
Actually tried to come to Texas. His high school teammate is the starting center on Texas.

Dana is a scumbag. Everyone is seeing this.
I am sure WVU has some real dirt on him.

This..
It is nothing.

Former Houston OL alleges Dana Holgorsen asked seniors to redshirt after 1-3 start
Nick Bromberg,Yahoo Sports 54 minutes ago

Earlier this week, news broke that Houston offensive lineman Justin Murphy was no longer with the team. Thursday night, Murphy shared his side of the story on Twitter, criticized the program’s approach to “actively tank” the 2019 season and the way Houston coach Dana Holgorsen acted when Murphy went to speak to him.

Murphy said in his Twitter thread, which you can read in full starting here, that he got an MRI on a troublesome right knee after Houston’s game on Sept. 19. He said the MRI found problems with his meniscus and surgically-repaired ACL. Then around the same time that he had his knee looked at, he said Holgorsen had approached seniors on the team and asked if they wanted to redshirt for 2019. Houston started the season 1-3 with losses to Oklahoma, Washington State and Tulane.

Houston’s game on Sept. 19 was on Thursday night and was against Tulane. That following Monday, QB D’Eriq King released a statement through the university that he was planning to redshirt the rest of the season and return in 2020 as players can now play in up to four games and still redshirt for a season. In that Tulane game, King had broken Tim Tebow’s record for most consecutive games with both a rushing and a passing touchdown.

Houston wide receiver Keith Corbin also announced that he was redshirting.

‘I don’t have time to talk’
Murphy, a sixth-year senior, transferred to Houston from Texas Tech and UCLA. He would not have been eligible for a redshirt to come back and play in 2020. He said that he made the decision to stop playing football knowing that his knee was struggling and that Houston wasn’t playing to win in 2019, reasoning that if Houston wasn’t committed to success during the season then he shouldn’t push himself on a busted knee.

That decision came after he said he was suspended by the team for Houston’s game against North Texas. Murphy, a starter on Houston’s offensive line, had missed the game, per Holgorsen, because of his knee problems and didn’t travel.

Murphy said he was told not to get on the bus if he wasn’t 100 percent committed to the team.

The next week, Murphy said he wanted to talk to Holgorsen in the coach’s office. That meeting did not last very long apparently.

Yahoo Sports has reached out to Houston for comment and also to Murphy for further comment on his Thursday night tweets and has yet to hear back from either.

Holgorsen is in his first year coaching at Houston after coming over from West Virginia. He made the uncommon move from a Power Five school to a Group of Five school on his own volition after the 2018 season following Houston’s decision to fire coach Major Applewhite.

The Cougars beat North Texas to move to 2-3 on the season and were off in Week 6. Houston plays No. 25 Cincinnati on Saturday.

Their qb and receiver for no reason saying screw it and taking the year off, this is all true. Theres no doubt. He can play he said she said and blame the bad season on a transition period while shrinking the transition process by having seniors come back again next year with his recruiting class. Like the kid said it's like a lot of tax evasion, dirty and pathetic, but will go by as legal and ok. Dude is not a winner. A winner doesnt act like he does, and that's fact

Sounds like a whiny jilted lover to me.

Dana won a bunch of games for WVU (#2 All Time in fact) and I guarantee you there are hundreds of guys who have play for Dana that love and respect him.

Are Brown and Holgorsen two different personalities? Yes. But they both were a part of the WVU football program and I'm sure both want/wanted to do the best job they can.

Two different mods from two different sites have ran this story as a tabloid level of journalism. Both shameful.

Bowden left WVU. Rich Rod left WVU. Left. Not fired said thanks but no thanks. Hell Bowden didn't win shit here and we cling to his success at FSU like it belongs to us.

Honestly this is sophomoric at best.

The real question is: who has the bigger problem with how things are going at Houston more? WVU fans or Houston fans?

Cougar High doesn't have many fans. Just money and a talent pool.
Dana really wants to win there to get the wheels in motion. SMU is going to be a major threat especially if they land Preston Stone.

There are already rumors of Dana cutting corners. The guy is reckless, a drunk and most likely a hard core drug user.

I don’t know why anyone gives a crap about Dana anymore that is associated with WVU. I don’t care what he does and I have said many times I am sure he will be an annual 10 game winner.

But don’t you feel you are just as bad fawning over him as much as you do? Isn’t it time for everyone to move on? Even the Dana fanboys?

@Vernon looked for your thread of this on Lot and didn’t see it on first page. Am I missing it or haven’t you put it up yet? Interested in what the troops think. Also have not notice on free side if you put up the Nike Air Max WVU shoe. If you haven’t they’re unreal and these guys would love em. Also are they anywhere to purchase. They would go right next to my signed Talley helmet in my game room.

I think your comments are reckless.

DH isnt very loveable in this situation, but neither is Murphy.

We send kids to college and pay many thousands of dollars to learn and prepare for life. It appears Murphy just got a valuable lesson - you arent special, nobody cares about you, life isnt fair - suck it up or crumble, no one gives a shit.

The "I dont have time to talk" sits just fine with me.

I have heard a lot of crazy rumors but one is that Dana may find out that the money is getting tight around their football program because Tillman Ferttita just lost a lot of income from his NBA team.
Dana could easily be thrown out without a buyout because of his lifestyle.
This thing with Murphy is just a start.

Shoot, I still play NCAA football on my PlayStation 3 and I redshirt all my seniors when I start a new dynasty.:eek:kay:

What about other team's players.
When Jovanni Stewart transfers to Cougar High I am pretty sure if WVU wanted they could claim tampering.
He got one of your players to RS as well.

I have always assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that when a benefactor floats a coaches salary...especially a contractually secured salary, that those funds are held in a protected fund.

If Houston is unsatisfied with DH, its possible this is a drip, drip campaign. Imo, this is feathers ruffled and if wins come in year 2, no one gives a crap.

I just saw that Tillman Fertittas hospitality group owns Rainfoest Cafe.

That explains why he has so much money.

Just took my wife/mother in law and kids to the Rainforest Cafe in Niagara Falls, Ont. this summer. I think I paid about $220 + tip for a basic lunch...and they didnt give the Poutine I ordered (reg fries). In fairness, it was a trainee and my kids really enjoyed the place.

The hosting process was balls to the walls crazy....thats another story.

I was working on getting the tweets in correctly and someone else started the thread so most of the action is in that thread - https://westvirginia.forums.rivals....i-think-we-came-out-ahead-on-this-one.213399/

I don't always get a chance to jump over here and post the same things like the shoes but I try. I'll post it now As for buying them I haven't heard anything yet on WVU, although several other schools are supposed to be offering them now.

Not sure if serious.....................

Talking about a video game.....................

Correlation not drawn..........................

Fairly clear slander case. Although I expect this kinda post out of this lunatic.
Some knowledgeable folks posted here recently what constituted a slander case. I guess you were on a worldwide golf tour and did not have time to peruse the board then.

Bowden won one of two bowl games, beat Lou Holtz and Pitt with Tony Dorsett.

RichRod never said thanks to anyone. He held no press conference, said ‘People change jobs,’ said WVU was ‘in the past,’ shredded records, tried to squirm out of his contractual buyout and sued the school.

I see no thanks in there,

I think we can set the bar higher than simply settling for "its not slanderous".

But then again, perhaps you arent a decent human.

What does a thank you do for you exactly?

I doubt Dana wanted to do the best job. The guy seems like the type that wanted to do the minimum amount for the maximum reward. Plenty of people, including posters on this board, do the same thing. However Power 5 head football coach is not a place where that kind of attitude can excel. It takes internal motivation and deep desire to do the best and not just enough to keep getting contracts.

So funny when fans of other teams live on WVU board and run their cocksuckers about what is being talked about. And it's not jilted shit, what hes doing is sissy shit

Dana is #2 with the most losses as well. He is also #1 with losses of coaches 10 years or less.

Dana is also a sissy. And the first coach to leave wvu and go somewhere else and not just fail, but but prove what a sissy he is. What he is doing is WEAK. period. Its pitiful. Oh I do it on a video game or whatever, hes proving he has no faith in himself and is a world class piece of garbage. Yeah send your son to him, just hope he isnt near a monitor if your kid wants to talk. When a college kid is more grown up and mature than a half bald older man, just pathetic

Seriously was everyone asleep in ethics class, or perhaps I am a relic and they no longer consider ethics a core curriculum these days.

Defamation comes in two forms; slander and libel.

Slander is spoken orally.

Libel is printed, digital is included in "print" usage.

The passage that is in question is:

"There are already rumors of Dana cutting corners. The guy is reckless, a drunk and most likely a hard core drug user."

Since this is "printed", it can only be defined as libel. Breaking down the comment;

The guy is reckless - that is opinion, not libel.

A drunk - that is fact as we are all aware of the incident at the Mardi Gras Casino. If it said habitual or chronic that might be libel but the drunk part is not qualified, it stands as fact, not libel

And most likely a hard core drug user - this falls under the alleged category of opinion used by media when reporting a crime that has been adjudicated in court. This is not libel.

You might dislike his opinions and views but he did not do what you assert he has done.
