Get back to dual threat QB. We need to balance offense out better.

We need a QB that can run again. We need that threat every play where a QB can run like a RB, hand off or throw. We need that dual threat QB. We can’t live and die by pass. That’s miserable and stupid coaching. Dana is not the head coach you need to win the conference or national titles. Hopefully Dana leaves or changes his style to fit what WVU needs. Trey Lowe needs to step up and be the guy. Maybe get graduate transfer Kelly Bryant to transfer in.

We need to get away from this no defense, soft, all passing wimp shit. Even Grier can’t win here with that style. We were 10-2 with Skyler Howard before Grier took over. Get more physical, play better defense and recruit dual threat QBs only.

Agree...with a new coaching staff that has an appreciation for smash mouth football...and tackles...and blocks...and north/south...and defense.

Football is changing

Alabama figured that out last year.

Why you think Jalen Hurts was put on the bench
Kelly Bryant has no arm what so ever .

Smash mouth football without explosive plays makes you Michigan and most likely ND

Ohio State 62 Michigan 39.

Doesn't this mean Big 10 can't play defense.

Yeah the offense was the problem

Ohio St has started to run the ball.
If you can combine downfield passing with a downhill running game you are near impossible to stop...

Unless your play a team that has elite physical corners or your OLine gets manhandled.

Coaches like Jim Harbaugh stick to their beliefs and cannot adjust to the changing of the game

Dana did a great job at becoming multi dimensional.
He even included the Tight ends in your passing game

Oklahoma will score 50 on pretty much all elite teams.

You can't blame Gibson.
Except for not playing more aggressive

But...
Y'all don't have good CBs.
Neither of your CBs would start at probably any of the Top 4-5 schools in the Big XII

Big 12 gets a bad rap for no defense. The SEC, Big 10 don’t play offenses. If they did they would give up 50-60+ points.

Michigan supposedly has top defense. Doesn’t look like it after Ohio State drops 62 points. Ohio State offense not as good as Oklahoma or WVU. That’s the point. SEC, Big 10 don’t face good offense much.

Been saying it for years. WVU will have its greatest successes with highly mobile QBs.

Because it is true. Heard the conference was thinking about changing the name from Big 12-2=10 to the American Touch Football Conference....with"points. Points. Points. And more Points!

ACC has a higher average of PPG than the Big XII

But they out tackle the Big 12-2=10. teams get at least two or three a game, Big 12-2=10 should study those films!

Oklahoma and WVU would drop 60+ on entire ACC.

Alabama better hope Oklahoma doesn’t get in at #4. Oklahoma offense will put 50+ on them.

Problem with that theory is WVU and OU would give 65+

Alabama would score 100 on Oklahoma, so it would still be a 50 point loss.

Oklahoma would have issues with Clemson's DLine.

Texas' DLine won the matchup against OU.

But...
Clemson has an average secondary.
Not a lot of good DBs from South Carolina.
The state of Georgia is getting better.

You have to force Kyler to scramble and you have to push their speedy WRs off the route.

Kyler has issues with ball security under pressure.

Agree with most of your post.

Two exceptions:
1. Oklahoma won't score that much against the elite defenses. Bama's defense would keep them under 30 on a bad day. So would most of the other top four or five schools.
2. Yes, we can blame Gibson. Not for a one game anomaly like Ohio State-Michigan. But this has been problematic for years now.

You are dead on about our corners. Outside of Long, none of the linebackers would either. Let me rephrase that, at ANY B12 school.

Its a sad day when you wish you had Kansas' defense.

Auburn has no OLine what so ever since Texas went over there to get Herb Hand

Even with that Gus Malzahn is scoring on Bama.

Bama's D is good and well coached but even they would have issues holding OU down luckily. They have a QB that can score now.

Alabama defense would get torched by Oklahoma offense. Alabama would score a lot too but it would be a close shootout. Alabama would get spooked when Oklahoma scores on them often and early. They don’t face any offenses with a pulse.

You're joking right.

Grier has played with a hurt leg ever since the Texas game and he hurt it even more last week. If you remember his freshman year at Florida and some times last year he’s actually quite fast.

Ohio State would drop 70 on a weekly occurrence in your league. Alabama and Clemson would score 80, Michigan and Notre Dame would drop 60, Georgia would drop 50. Big 12 plays Arena Football style.

So basically what you’re saying is in order for a team to score points similar to the average big 12 team they would need to be in the top 10 of the whole country. Got it.

Think you can take Michigan off the list...

Michigan proved today the Big XII would break them.

Ohio St forced Michigan to put up points and Harbaugh and his conservative offense could not.

It is physiology....

A human body cannot play football at a high level and at a high speed for an extended period of time.

You saw that with LSU vs A&M...

Both considered good defenses.
By OT both D's were exhausted.

Oklahoma is their own worse enemy.
They move the ball at a 9 yard per play clip.
From the 20 that is 9 plays for a TD in about 3 minutes....

Their offense scores way too quick and unlike an offense a defense all has to run to make a tackle.

Unless a team methodically moves the ball on OU
Maybe 14 play 80 yard drives that take 9 minutes

Problem with OU is their D is pretty good against the run so you can't just methodically move the ball
Conservative play calling against Oklahoma would mean you give the ball back to an offense that is hard to stop

It doesn't matter who your QB is if you can't play a lick of defense. We've proven that year after year.

I think they beat Texas and get in playoff over Ohio State. Ohio State beating lowly Northwestern won’t get them any help. Beating top 12 ranked Texas in a Big 12 title should help Oklahoma get in.
