WVSPORTS.COM Game Recap: WVU drops fifth straight, lose 77-76 to Oklahoma

That game was there for the taking. WVU didn't want it.

we're cursed for firing Bill Stewart..you get what you deserve
Bill Stewart passed away and would never have been coach in Big 12. Stewart chose to leave because he didn't want Holgs as HC in waiting.

he was going to be replaced the next year..he didn't chose that..
our fans are a bag of lunatics.
fan: NIL and the portal have ruined college football
fan: bowl games are meaningless unless you make the playoffs..our starting QB and RB opted out of our bowl games
fan: we need to fire the coach! (for not winning enough games to go to a meaningless bowl game)

Hiring Stewart was the real problem. He was a great one off for that bowm game, but we screwed up and went full on drunk Las Vegas wedding and started a slide that has been going on ever since.

Huh, WVU was climbing with Dana Holgorsen- 4 pts from playing for a BIG 12 CCG and winning % over 8 games a season last four years. It’s when Brown came in things went to hell as well as Huggins declining with his dinosaur ways the last five years.

Stewart went 9-4 every year and wasn't even given an entire four year cycle of recruitng..he got Geno (who is getting ready to start a playoff game) Tavon etc..WVU screwed themselves and hired a guy who said after he left.."we were never going to be able recruit players good enough to win the B12 at WVU" fact

LMAO...this is my fav bucky post....Holgs ALMOST won something....

He couldn’t win a depleted Big East, didn’t beat ranked teams and couldn’t get to a major bowl out of that depleted Big East. Lost to teams like ECU and Colorado which were not good even though he was gifted players like Pat White. Holgorsen year one did far better, wiining the conference and crushed Clemson in historic fashion which altered their program. He then had to take a program which Stewart had under recruited intentionally for years into one of the best conferences in the country- yet he still won at WVU and improved on the historical average for all coaches last five seasons.

The problem with WVU now is that some loons are still hung up on Stewart who couldn’t get it done and wrecked the next coaches stint at WVU when he was moving WVU back into the upper echelons of college football again. Now WVU has a seasonal loser and a bb coach five years past his prime, but still are stuck in some imaginary past.

ECU was actually loaded with NFL talent that year..blind WVU fans who always think we're above some teams..2008 WV lost 75% of the offensive production from 2007..ECU had two DT's that started in the NFL..CJ Wilson and Linvell Joseph..D Washington on offense..what NFL starters were on the 2008 WVU football team?..none that's who

Yeah wish we could slide back up to Stew's 9-4 level.😏

WVU had far better talent and a mediocre coach. Stewart coached against a weak schedule and lost games he shouldn’t and could not win against teams like ECU and Colorado. Never won a significant game except after stepping in with Rodriguez’s staff and players in the game that got him hired after a night of drinking.

He drove himself out of the position of HC and slandered and libeled the next coach.

Nothing great about him and DH showed what could be done in the Big East every year had he been the coach.

Then DH had to take that severely underrecruited roster into the toughest schedules WVU ever faced- and he still won And built a team capable of playing against a tougher schedule. Then WVU played games because of some loon fans that couldn’t understand the difference between playing Rutgers and USF as opposed to Oklahoma and Texas and chased that coach away — and now WVU football might as well not exist. What’s worse is Huggins career has passed him by but his ego won’t let him move on.

The sad part is you don't make yourself non existant.

So basically you're saying Rodriguez is a bad coach because he coached WVU in a depleted Big East. Yet he knocked off top 5 programs in BCS bowls.

Stewart was by far the best recruiter WVU had..several of his players are still in the NFL and starting..9-4 is actually winning..also played LSU and Auburn..Cincy was very good with Kelly and was 12-0 in 2009.
Low information delusional WVU fans are the norm...far better talent..lol

He was a great recruiter, but also an underperformer with those recruits. I know Mullen was the OC that couldn't get an offense with Geno, Tavon, and Bailey to score 21 points every game, but the buck stopped with Bill. He chose personal loyalty to a staff member over what was best for WVU. As noble as that is, and not at all a moral judgment against the man, that is not part of the job he was hired to do.

Yeah those awful 9-4 seasons were pathetic...pathetic I say!!!!!

it's safe to say that the NFL takes the best college football players

Q Spain, N Goode, K Tandy, S Baily, T Austin, B Irvin, G Smith. all were starters
