Besides the usual teams like Pitt, Penn State, VT...Who are some teams you personally would like to see WVU play?

For some reason I would love to see BC back on the schedule. I would love to see us play Miami again also.

A few others

Wisconsin
Notre Dame
Oregon
Nebraska

I have zero desire to play Miami or BC. Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin. But with all the travel involved in the Big 12 - I prefer teams like Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio State, North Carolina, Virginia along with Pitt, PSU, VT and Maryland.
Agree with a lot of the teams you listed Woody...I'm looking forward to seeing Mizzou next year along with Tennessee, NC St, Penn St, and VT on the future OOC sched...just wish the Vols were a home and home, but realize these neutral sites are here to stay it seems...

I wouldn't mind seeing some neutral site games against the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Southern Cal or Arizona.

Bring back Lou Holtz to coach William and Mary and we can put them on the schedule.:chairshot:

Could care less about playing Pitt or even PSU (we've gotten along fine without them for 20+ years).

Sure don't miss BC or Miami. Both urban schools with no real fans. Tailgating sux too.

Have missed playing the Hokies a little.
Want to keep playing MD.

As for who else, I'd like to play an SEC school, a old school in the south SEC school, not Missouri. A&M is a good game, but that won't happen for s while if ever in the regular season.

Don't care about ND, schools in the B1g or the PAC12.

Like playing big games.

1. Want the Backyard Brawl back on the schedule. It's too much fun chanting, "Eat S%$& Pitt"
2. Want to rekindle the Penn State rivalry. Where did those great t-shirts go that said on the front "Penn State sucks" and on the back "but Pitt swallows"?
3. The Maryland border war . . . a great barometer game each year.
4. Tennessee, the Carolina teams, maybe Georgia and Georgia Tech. Football schools in the south which would help in recruiting those areas.

I agree with some of what 3x said, but not all of it.

Games against Penn St are ancient history; I wouldn't care if we never saw that loathsome cult ever again. The BC and Miami series each had their moments, but now feel like relics just the same. I'm totally lukewarm on Pitt, which I guess says a lot about its current status.

It always seemed to me that we missed a good opportunity to capitalize on the Music City Bowl and sign Ole Miss to a home-and-home. Even low-profile Vanderbilt would be a nice chance to visit Nashville. How have we never played Arkansas?

Basically anybody we never face would be exciting to me. I'd love to see a totally brand-new opponent in an unfamiliar location like Minnesota or Northwestern. WVU hasn't played a sitting Pac-12 school since the 1970s, so one of them also would be a complete change of pace. How about Air Force, since we've played the other 2 academies in the past?

Please just keep rotating new schools in new areas to keep it fresh. Don't let geographic proximity, money, and history be the only factors. Novelty is important, too.

No surprise that I agree with Woody because I usually do. Not so much Missouri. I agree that opponents close enough for WVU fans to drive there should be higher up on the list. So that means Virginia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Purdue, Penn State, Pitt, North Carolina, Virginia are ideal for that. We can't be driving 1,000 miles each way to see a game. Players get on a plane, so it's no big deal whether they're going to Rutgers or Texas, travel-wise.

Wow...not much love for the Mizzou matchup on this thread? I think they are a team that would match up well for us and give a formidable challenge...at least it gives us an opener next year with more cache than Ga So...the way I see the existing future OOC slate shaping up over the next 4-5 years it's less cupcake and more teams that will represent challenge, and a few we have not seen in a while or ever in relative terms ,that is good imo. I'll be at Ga So, but want no part of paying for this Liberty crap in the future...

Im actually looking forward to Missouri and hope we can play them often. As far as teams like Nebraske, Oregon ect I was thinking more like the game against Alabama in a Kickoff Classic type of game. If were talking home and home then Ohio State, Lousiville, Virginia, North Carolina would be good matchups. . BC has been down for years but if they come back those would be great games. Almost every WVU vs BC game was always a great game to watch. I dont care about travel when it comes to playing premier teams. WVU cannot put up some kind of wall around the North East when it comes to scheduling. You think Notre Dame fans complain about the travel when the go to USC or Stanford? Or do they look forward to the game? WVU has been in the Big12 for a few years now. I think we can drop the "travel" talk K

The overall records in the link suggest it should be a good matchup...a lot of similarities...

I will discuss with you briefly on Sat night Woody and try to sway you to my line of thinking lol...
My only problem with Missouri is the geography - I would rather play any of the other 6 teams in the SEC East. And I look forward to meeting you Saturday.

Any SEC or ACC school from Atlanta north to the Mason-Dixon Line. IMO, forget about Pitt and Syracuse and BC or any other old rivalry who no longer has much of a fan base. Clemson would be a good OOC game especially since WVU's old President is now their President.

Also, keep the Maryland game and try to extend the series for as long as possible.
