WVU has been ranked in the top 25 or top 20 at the end of NINETEEN seasons.

Bill Stewart had as many top 25 rankings in THREE seasons (3) as Rich Rodriguez (3) had in 8 seasons and Art “Pappy” Lewis (3) had in 10 seasons.

Don Nehlen had WVU in top 25 SEVEN times in 21 seasons, or one-third of his tenure with the Mountaineers.

Bill Stewart had WVU ranked in the top 25 THREE times in three seasons. EVERY season he was the head coach, WVU was in the top 25 at the end of the season. Incredible! But not good enough for Oliver Luck.

Dana Holgorsen got WVU into the top 25 in ONE season, 2011, with nearly every player recruited by Bill Stewart.

Rich Rodriguez had WVU in top 25 THREE times in 8 seasons

Don Nehlen had WVU in top 25 SEVEN times in 21 seasons

Bobby Bowden had WVU in top 25 ONE time in 6 seasons

Jim Carlen had WVU in top 25 ONE time in 4 seasons

Well...forgetting 'all' affiliations wasn't part of your thread topic...so I can excuse the obvious agenda.

Still a good, if not great, post.

Cuyahoga, you've got a few mistakes in there again.

First, the Harris Interactive Poll used in the final few years of the BCS era was simply a tool used to the replace the AP poll in the BCS formula for bowl selection purposes only. It never released a post-bowl ranking at any point, did not crown a champion, and therefore does not count as a "final" ranking in the same sense as what you mean:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harris_Interactive_College_Football_Poll

As a result, that means Stewart can be credited with having a team ranked in the final polls in just 2 of his 3 seasons as head man.

Next, you shortchanged RR by one year in your listings. The 2002 team finished #25 in the final AP poll and #20 in the final coaches' poll. The complete list of our final rankings by season is at the link below:

Thanks for straighten that out. I did the research without knowing what I would find. I thought using national rankings so of made it apples to applies, by eliminating the conference affiliation, because it meant WVU was considered a top 25 team regardless of conference affiliation.

And it's food for thought. These 7 days between games is too long for me. I have to poke the bear from time to time to keep all of us, including me, awake till the next kickoff.

See everyone in Mountaineer Field at noon Satuday. Hook them Horns!

M ighty defense throttled Georgia Southern, 44-0

O utstanding defense obliterated Liberty, 41-17

U nilaterally decimated Maryland, 45-6, on defense and offense

N oxious offense & special teams against Oklahoma, 44-24

T urnovers lose to Oklahoma State, 33-26 in OT despite impressive comeback from 15-point deficit.

A wesome Baylor too much, 62-38.

I ncinerated by TCU, 40-10. Way too many mistakes, penalties, dropped passes.

N ifty rushing, defense take down Texas Tech, 31-26

E scape Texas

E rectile dysfunction Kansas

R oll past Iowa State

S lip past Kansas State

Why not compare our record to teams that we seem to share similar histories. Syracuse, Vatech, Clemson,Wisconsin,Maryland and any others that you chose.

I have a Master's degree in Economics and, although I'm not an expert in statistics, I had to take my fair share. I'm also, hot a "journalist" who likes to skim the top and not drill down into the reality of what we are dealing with. You can make numbers work for you in any number of ways but, until you take into consideration the less observed or considered subjective elements, you can be taken as someone who has an agenda. You want to spin a story that is less than complete.
