Football Adds Quarterback Will Grier


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 6, 2016) – West Virginia University football coach Dana Holgorsen announced that quarterback Will Grier has transferred from Florida, signed a grant-in-aid and will enroll at WVU in May 2016. He will sit out the 2016 season to complete NCAA transfer eligibility requirements and will have two years of eligibility remaining (2/2).

2015: Played in six games and started five for Florida … completed 106-of-161 passes for 1,204 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions … long completion of 77 yards … season-high 283 yards against Tennessee … threw for 200 or more yards in three games and 250 or more yards in two … finished with 20 or more completions in three games … completed multiple touchdowns in four games … had 36 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns with a long of 38 yards … threw for 271 yards on 24-of-29 passing and four touchdowns in win against Ole Miss … completed 20-of-33 passes for 208 yards against Missouri … had 283 yards on 23-of-42 passing and two touchdown against Tennessee with a long of 63 yards.

2014: Did not see any game action and redshirted … enrolled in January.

High School: Named the Parade National Player of the Year, Maxwell Player of the Year and Tom Lemming Offensive Player of the Year ... named Mr. Football USA as the nation’s top high school player, as selected by a five-member panel of StudentSports.com football experts ... 247 Sports First Team All-American and MaxPreps First Team All-American ... was a 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl selection ... threw for 109 yards on 4-of-8 passing in the Army Bowl, including a 51-yard pass that resulted in the longest play of the game ... completed 32-of-42 passes for a season-high 599 passing yards and seven touchdowns en route to an NCISAA Division II state title over Harrells Christian Academy ... totaled 4,989 yards with a national-best 77 touchdowns in his senior year ... rushed for 1,251 yards with 13 touchdowns in 2013 ... in his career, he totaled 14,565 yards and a state-record 195 touchdown passes ... his 14,565 passing yards are second in North Carolina state history behind former UF quarterback Chris Leak ... also had 2,955 career rushing yards and 31 rushing scores ... was the Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year as a junior and senior ... set a national record for single-game passing yardage as a junior in 2012 with a 837-yard, 10-touchdown performance against Harrells Christian in the playoffs ... coached by father and former East Carolina standout quarterback Chad Grier.
