I am looking for a very good year. I am surprised at the concern for the qb position if Howard is the QB. I think that we would have beaten TCU had Howard been inserted in the fourth quarter. We didn't need a score all we needed was a
first down and I think Howard would have been up to that task. Admittedly he had a terrible game in the bowl but we still
scored 37 points usually a bad game at the QB position results in fewer than 20 points. I hope and think that Howard
is like Doug Flutie in that he is much better on the field than he is in someone's account of what a good QB should be. I am
in no way saying that he is another Flutie only that he plays much better and is more effective than he should be. In other
words he has a feel for the game which is so essential at his position. I think barring injury he will be our QB for the next
two years and be very successful, I am much more concerned about the Oline and Dline than I am about the QB situation.
I think people forget how successful this past year has been. We gave Alabama all they could handle essentially at their
place and beat a Maryland team at their place who had crushed us the year before in a somewhat neutral place. We have
Maryland at home and no Alabama so that should help us immensely. Our defense should be much improved over last
year and it was good last year.
