Should be in
West Virginia Mountaineers (74%)
There was some late game drama, but West Virginia held on for a much needed win against Cincinnati Wednesday. It was just the Mountaineers’ third win in their past nine games. The ESPN analytics model likes West Virginia’s tourney chances more than the composite metrics do (by nearly 15 percentage points), but it’s worth noting Joe Lunardi’s bracketology had WVU among his last four byes prior to this victory. The Mountaineers’ No. 35 SOR ranking and 6-7 record against BPI top 50 foes certainly helps, and they will look to get an even bigger win on Saturday in Lubbock against Texas Tech.
