Double overtime vs. the Kan't State Golden Flashes?.....

If you were a college football fan in West Virginia today, you could have gone to Morgantown along with 61,107 other people on a beautiful Fall afternoon, paying of course the full price for a ticket to watch The Mountaineers play long time rival Maryland. Alternatively, if you were a community college fan you could have driven up to Cleveland with 137 Herd fans and paid $5 for a ticket to sit with 15,000 people, most of them refugees from the local homeless shelter, and watched your team get taken to the wire by Kent State (I didn't realize they still played football there). Then you could have reminisced about Huntington as you dodged the bullets on the way back to your car.

It looked like about 300 in the stands, and about 120 of them were Marshall fans. What a truly pathetic display, all around...

I remember several years ago when Marshall played Akron, they actually allowed fans to attend the game if they brought a can of soup as a gift for the local soup kitchen.

From that moment forward I realized that no matter what anybody says, Marshall will always be a welfare athletic program sucking on somebody else's teat to survive. They absolutely are pretenders in the realm of college athletics, bleeding our state out of more than $15 million per year in funds desperately needed for many things that aren't being properly addressed, all to preen up some politically connected businessmen's egos in Huntington. It is a Division 2 athletic program disguised as an expensive mid major.

Some would argue... but they can get 20,000 people to attend their home games so it must be relevant. To them I would point out that they basically give away those tickets for next to nothing... less than 1/6 of the cost of going to a game in Morgantown, for example. And, if state government decided to lay out $15.1 million for any sort of basically free entertainment in any other city in our state, they surely could get more people than that to show up half a dozen times.

Great points...

Congrats on yet another impressive victory.

Let's review the mighty Ear's season so far:

Georgia Southern - Sunbelt - ant ball

Liberty - FCS team - ant ball

Maryland - B1G - ah, ah, aahhh...not so fast.

Maryland lost to BGSU - MAC - ant ball; Maryland's ONLY two victories are over Richmond - FCS - ant ball and USF - AAC team (who has only won 1 game this year against...you guessed it, another FCS team - ant ball).

It seems WVu has yet to accomplish winning against any team this year which either wasn't an ant ball team itself or a team which has been beaten by other ant ball teams.

I guess that's why CAT and the rest of you are such experts in discussing ant ball.

Since Marshall won the game, CUSA > MAC.

Marshall: One of the "best" in CUS1AA.
CUS1AA = Ant-ball

Kent State one of the worst in the Big MAC.
Big MAC = Ant-ball

One of the best ant-ballers in CUS1AA squeaks by in double overtime against one of the worst ant-ballers in the Big MAC, after getting ant-handled by a middle of the pack, ant-baller (Bobcats) in the Big MAC?

Big MAC > CUS1AA = Fact

marshall has wins over three teams with a combined 3-9 record, and lost to the only team they have played with a winning record.

WVU is undefeated and their opponents are 7-5 and none have a losing record.

Remember when Marshall's victory over a depleted Maryland team meant they had arrived? Now all of a sudden Maryland is "ant ball" whatever that is.

So the only team Marshall claims a big win over is Purdue who has also lost to a MAC "ant ball" team. Oh, and Marshall lost to a MAC "ant ball" team. Again, I have no idea what that means.

There is just no comparison. Maryland is better than any team the Plungering Terd has faced this year. WV could have named the score yesterday. The Terd struggled against hapless Kent State, after losing to Ohio U. Hypothetically, if the 2 teams were to play the score would be West Virginia 99 ... Marshall 3 and the three would come late in the 4th. quarter against WV 3rd. string defenders.

Good for them, but it's quite early in the season to use ones record as an indicator since many teams (WVu included) have played nobody so far.

2 of your 3 victories are now 2-2. Not a losing record, but not a winning record either.

Seriously, you're defending Liberty? Jerry Fallwell would be so proud.

Oh, I see... so YOU can use the teams as an indicator, but we cannot? Yes, two of teams we have played are at .500, and all three of your wins come against teams who are 1-3.

Please provide a link of my defending Liberty (I would imagine from your demanding links earlier you have that link ready). I would also like a link "proving" that WVU's wins are inflated since you have stated it has been proven many times.

Seriously, you are defending mooU? ??? would be so proud? You guys make me chuckle! Any one of WV's conference games would be a mooU's superbowl game!!

You attempt to defend Marshall's 120th+ ranked schedules and you're talking about who WVU plays? LOL!!! That's rich.

By the way...Georgia Southern would kick Marshall's ass.

The worst game on the WV schedule would be at worst an average game on the Terd schedule. The best game on the Terd schedule wouldn't even move the needle in Morgantown. West Virginia will face 2 Top 10 teams and 4 Top 20 teams this year alone.

Keep on drinking your green weenie Coolaid there in Huntington and believe you are somehow relevant.
Nobody in the state cares about Terd athletics. Personally, I think even the folks in Huntington are faking it.

Georgia Southern is better than anyone on Marshall's schedule and Maryland may be the second best. You may finish the season without beating anyone in the Top 100. Meow!

Georgia Southern 43 Western Michigan 17.
Marshall takes 2OT to beat MAC bottom feeder Kent St.

Georgia Southern is better than Marshall's entire schedule and much better than Marshall. [roll]
