Who knows? With not have access to live scrimmage and seeing how much improved the OL we won't know for a least a few weeks, I do know what I saw at the Greenbrier and that all the talk around DTW don't seem to jive. Unless I missed something DTW looked to be a guy who could get yards on every play running north-south for 3-4 yards plus. Shell looked to hesitate side-to side then excellerate but sometimes for limited gains. Marcellus looked fast and elusive with potential to help on early downs. Smallwood looked to be the most versetel and is a threat to do anything at anytime but usually picked up solid gains on every carry. He may the most consistent running back we have.
But if there is a smokescreen going on its with DTW. I know what Seider is saying about doing the right thing on every play but I am not sure what that really means. Blocking, playing within the offense not giving effort on every play....who knows. But from what I saw at least at the Greenbrier, DTW could be a beast this year at RB. Looking at fan day and practice photos DTW could be a beast at RB. Is it that Seider knows his potential and is just pushing him?? Is there really two lead backs in Shell and Smallwood and a hope that DTW becomes more consistant?? Or is DTW a beast and just waiting to show as much. If he has pushed Shell and Smallwood to step up great they absolutely have that potential.
Personally I think all four of our RBs are going to be very good this year and have more 3-4 yds plus runs than some of the 1-3 yard runs from dancing around we have seen. Why, better holes from the OL and much stronger RBs. Rotation of OL and being fresh in the 3-4 Qrt will also help the RBs. I hear Seider but I think DTW is going to be a huge factor this season. Your thoughts?
