Well, Doc did graduate from, play football for and coach several years at wvu. We can't toughen him up overnight. Give us a little more time.
Marshall will play wvu, under our terms and conditions. We don't let mid tier P5 teams dictate terms. Like Purdue, Pitt, Louisville and NC State you can sign a 1 for 1.
You will get the same deal as any other IAA program, since that is what you are. Keep making excuses, though.
You are on par with the teams I listed, except Louisville, which is your superior. Therefore you get no better deal than them.
Mistake 1 that you made was assuming we are on Louisville's level. In case you haven't followed any college football this year, which it appears you don't, they are 2-3 with a loss to Houston, a team that loves to spank that Herd ass.
Mistake 2 is assuming Louisville will make the trip to the Joan. Have they been there yet? Don't hold your breath.
If I were you, I would bet that big expensive motor home you have that WVU will give you a 1 and 1.

Louisville will be here next year. And while Louisville is battling youth this year, they have been better than you the last few years and their overall athletic department is far superior.
As far as Houston, we were 2-2 against them in CUSA with the home team winning every game. Also, we have beaten Louisville in each of our last 5 meetings.
