Do you want Pitt, VT, or Miami in the Russell Athletic?

Just wondering what matchup WVU fans want. I think the bowl will pick VT since they will bring more fans than us but for TV ratings, I wouldn't rule out a Brawl in Orlando.

I wanted to beat OK.

Guess what...? ...didn't matter.

I do not want to play a freaking ACC school. I choose none of those losers.

If we get the Russell Athletic Bowl it is against an ACC opponent. However, none of these ACC teams are projected to fill that slot except Miami. The favorites from the ACC are Miami, FSU & UNC. I'd like to see the UNC match-up.

It will be Miami, VT, or Pitt.

UNC went last year and they aren't taking them 2 years in a row when there are decent alternatives.

FSU is going to the Citrus Bowl. The ACC gets the Citrus when the Big Ten qualifies for the Orange which they will.

You will be playing a former Big East school.

That's not that difficult in the ACC today.

Yea, I love it. Basically an ACC/Big East merger. I loved the old Big East (before Miami, VT, and BC left). We basically booted RU and Temple (and WVU though competitive-wise, they were certainly worthy of an invite) and added FSU, Clemson, UNC, Duke, etc.

Just like the old Big East - still ND's bitches.

Of course I'd want Pitt, but they've done nothing to suggest they've earned the right to play us.

I don't care who the opponent is or where the bowl is as long as WVU is 10-2 entering the game and 11-2 after the bowl performance. We need to wipe the nasty taste of the Oklahoma and Oklahoma State games out of our memories ... somehow.

M anhandled Missouri, 26-11

O rdinary against Youngstown, 38-21

U nnerving miracle goalline tip/interception escapes BYU, 35-32

N o quit against Kansas State, 17-16

T ony’s turbulence tore up Texas Tech, 48-17

A nother defense whipping, of TCU, 34-10

I gnominy of turnovers against Oklahoma State, 20-37

N o problem decimating Kansas, 48-21

E xcellent, timely defense AGAIN; beat Texas, 24-20

E rectile dysfunctioned against Oklahoma, 56-28

R ebound at Iowa State

S urvive Baylor

I would love for the boys to play Virginia Tech. Any reason to get on the field against the Hokies is a good one. Better fan base than Pitt or Miami, that would travel well to fill a stadium. Plus, I sorely miss the rivalry.

No Russell Athletic Bowl, no ACC opponent, and especially no VT. That will never be a good idea under any circumstances.

I would love to take on any of those teams. Exception FSU since they totally own us.

I wouldn't. Nothing duller than yet another ACC opponent in a crappy third-tier bowl. This program has been plagued with those matchups for decades and they rarely go well. We certainly don't need another. Variety is what we need.

I would prefer to play the best team possible and none of those options are good teams.

I think Cotton is there but only if IU or OKstate makes the olayoff. Not great odds.
WVU could end up in the Sugar or Cotton
OSU beats Michigan
MSU beats PSU
OSU beats Wisconsin
USC beats Washington again
OU to CFP
OSU to Sugar or Cotton
WVU to Sugar or Cotton

Oklahoma State would be the second place team since they beat us so they get the Sugar. Therefore the Sugar is not possible for WVU. Neither is the Cotton in my opinion - Big 10 is going to get both at large bids.

I would prefer Alamo vs Washington State.
Sugar can select WVU if conference champ is in the CFP and WVU is ranked higher. You're probably right on Cotton.

Pitt would be awesome.

Actually any of those three would be great.

Sure beats finishing 7th in the conference standings huh

Well .... they have beaten two top 10 teams .... which is something that we can't say we have done.

But having said that .... it would be fun to kick Pitt's butt.

No the Sugar can not Select WVU over the Cotton. The Big 12 champion goes to the Sugar and it the champion goes to the playoff then second place goes to the Sugar and conference tie breakers are in effect.

"As for 2016, like all other Power 5 teams, the Big 12 is guaranteed a spot in one of the New Year’s Six bowls. The Big 12 champ this year will be automatically slotted into the Sugar Bowl, unless they qualify for the CFP, at which point the Sugar Bowl will have its pick of the remaining Big 12 teams."

If WVU best is to play in another "participation trophy" bowl game in December I would enjoy a Pitt matchup...just for the chance to beat them again.

Pitt or VT. Don't care about Miami, the game would be as meaningless as the other stupid bowl games we played in the past vs random schools like NC State, Texas AM, Arizona State. Nothing against those programs, I just don't think it holds any type of significance if we beat them or they beat us at some random time slot ESPN needs to fill during the holiday season. Pitt or VT is at least an opportunity to shove it in an old rivals face

A solid victory over Miami .... in a Florida bowl ..... would be a help to recruiting in Florida I would think.

I think fans overestimate the importance of beating a recruiting rival. An 18 year old is not going to make a massive life decision off the results of a 2nd tier bowl game
