we don't have our best player. incidentally, holton is also the key to the press. i'm thinking we mix it up a little more on defense.

Paper..................If we decide not to press..................can you get the word to Huggins? It would be inconsiderate to not let him know.

Huggs has already said he can't change the nature of the team during a two-day turnaround before a game.

We'll find out if that is coach-speak or not.

We've come out of the press before, so it would not be unprecedented. I'm sure we will press but if it's not working and we begin giving up too many easy baskets it would hardly be surprising if we mix it up a little.

I think we start out pressing. It's our DNA. If I recall though ISU has bigs like Niang who can handle the ball making our press have limited impact. If we aren't shooting hot tonight, I could see us not only abandoning the press but also mixing some 1-3-1 in to try to slow down ISU on offense.

We will try to, I'm certain, it's what we do. A little more 1-3-1 than usual is likely though.

Press or no Press, do we find a successful half court offense? Who and where does the offense come from ( besides Paige ) if the defense does not produce a large difference in scoring opportunities? Guess here is without a doubt the press will have to be a factor in every game, with or without Holton, or anybody else for that matter.

With the press, WV can deny the ball to the ISU guards. If the ball comes in to an ISU big..................well, all heck breaks loose.............cause BIGS can't dribble! Now, let's bring on the Mountaineers!

Even without Holton we are who we are and Huggs won't change the way we play. Others have to step up

Yeah exactly, 79.

Aside from applying some pressure off misses, you of course have to score to press. A year ago, People got caught up in how Kentucky would or would not be able to break our press & all that with their size. That's only half the battle. We simply could not score on them, which negated any press possibilities. Their D was largely overshadowed heading into that game by all the publicity the press was getting esp from the Maryland game.

Our half court offense vs everybody's D is basically the key. & with that, I include our own turnovers, offensive fouls & shot selection. The press at this point, you know what you're going to get from it.

Mountaineer Steve nails it again.

Press Virginia bothers every team. It affects their ball-handling, hell ever their free throw shooting in the 2nd half when they get exhausted.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The #1 defense in America and you want to change it because 1 of the 10 guys who have made it scarier than Rosemary's baby isn't there?

Chicken Little has nothing on some people.

Huggins didn't get to almost 800 victories by accident. He was brilliant in Akron, Cincinnati, Kansas State and WVU. He won't have a stupid attack now.

Axe 'em in Ames tonight!!!!
