I just watched Disgraced, a 2017 Showtime documentary that examined the murder of Baylor basketball player Patrick Dennehy by his teammate and roommate Carlton Dotson in 2003.

Several things stood out.
1) HC Dave Bliss was paying players and later tried to get Dennehy's teammates and his assistant basketball coaches to lie to investigators to cover up Bliss' NCAA violations. Bliss concocted a story that Dennehey was a drug dealer and that's where he got his money.

2) Baylor officials, aware that NCAA investigators had looked into Dave Bliss' alleged violations at SMU and New Mexico prior to hiring him at Waco, claimed to know nothing about his transgressions at Baylor.

3) Before Dave Bliss resurrected their program, Baylor had never really enjoyed success in basketball.

3) The NCAA gave Bliss a 10-year Show Clause because of his Baylor violations . He is now the HC at Southwest Christian University near Oklahoma City.

4) The assistant basketball coach who secretly recorded Bliss and his instructions to players and assistant coaches lie and cover up the scandal has been blackballed by coaches around the country and could not find a job. He is now teaching inmates in a federal prison.

The documentary showed an ESPN interview with Coach K, Jim Boeheim and Kelvin Sampson who said they would never higher an assistant coach who secretly recorded them.

5) Patrick Dennehy, considered to be a first round NBA draft pick by some, was not on scholarship. Dave Bliss picked up his tuituon, room and board and provided him with a Chevy Tahoe. Neither his parents nor Baylor officials were aware of that he was not on scholly.

6) Neither HC Scott Drew, the athletic department, the faculty, the President nor the independent investigative group (all Baylor alums) agreed to be interviewed for this project.

It seems the more things change at Baylor, the more they remain the same.
