As many of you may know, they're building a new locker room at the soccer stadium. Currently, the visiting teams don't have one and have to use a tent, which is not a good look for the university or the Big 12. Anyhoo, WVU us going to move into this new full-featured locker room and visitors will use the existing one, which is really nice as it is. They're going to have all the upscale amenities, bathrooms, showers, training room, lounge area, etc. and new locker rooms for the officials as well. Bids are due September 2nd. Substantial completion is slated for November 20th and Final Completion is on December 4th. Liquidated damages are $500 and $1,000 per day respectively beyond those thresholds. I wanna say this project is in the mid-six figure range.

On a related subject, bids are due this Monday, August 17th for the reconfigured outdoor football practice complex and that is supposed to be completed in mid-to-late January, which is plenty of time before Spring Practice. Obviously, Mountaineer Field will be under renovations starting around the same time, so that is by design. So, it will be under construction this Fall and should start relatively soon, I'd think. From reading the tea leaves, it looks like they're going to try to engineer it to give themselves a little more space and I see where they will be installing a Redi-Rock retaining wall, which potentially suggests some hillside excavation, and there will be all new fencing, shade structures along the sidelines and other items in addition to the new turf field, base and drainage system.
They're also in the process of selecting a project manager for the renovations to the entire Coliseum Complex, which should commence next Spring after the basketball season, I think. That will encompass large-scale concourse renovations and new basketball locker rooms, corridors, academic space and athletic department offices in the Coliseum itself and a total overhaul of the Shell Building, repurposing space in the Natatorium and a new Olympic Sports Training Facility and Locker Rooms between the two buildings, among other things. The NITA for the construction project manager is currently set for September 10th. This is somewhere around a $25 million dollar project.
All this stuff is in addition to the $50 million football stadium renovation and the WVU Baseball clubhouse facilities work currently being done, nevermind the hundreds of millions of dollars in new construction going on around campus and Morgantown, so there are lots of irons in the fire right now. Good times.
