Since it keeps coming up in the endless lies about DH and his teams, thought it would be interesting to see how many players DH actually brought in year one, and their contributions in that great season for WVU football which ended ranked, with 10 wins, a Big East championship and a historic beatdown of Clemson.

Roster

Player
Class Pos Summary

Paul Millard FR QB 7 Cmp, 15 Att, 124 Yds, 1 TD
Dustin Garrison FR RB 136 Att, 742 Yds, 5.5 Avg

Andrew Buie FR RB 51 Att, 172 Yds, 3.4 Avg
Vernard Roberts FR RB 44 Att, 140 Yds, 3.2 Avg

Trevor Demko FR DL 4 games 3 tackles

Jared Barber FR LB12 games 23 tackles

Troy Gloster FR LB 10 games 5 tackles

Jewone Snow FR LB 11 games 42 tackles

Mike Molinari FR *DB 13 games 30 punts 1116 yds 37.2 yd avg.
Ishmael Banks FR DB13 games 11 tackles

Shaq Petteway FR DB 12 games 8 tackles

Wes Tonkery FR DB 9 games 4 tackles
Avery Williams FR DB 5 games 3 Tackles

so as anyone can see Holgorsen didn't just have the previous coaches players to work with, he brought in many contributors to that great season himself, many went on to be great players for the Mountaineers.

Holgorsen was with the team a year previously as well and no doubt played a role in bringing in many 2010 players as well.

I literally don't know what point you're trying to make. Are you trying to support Dana in some way or put him down?

Obviously the people here don't want to hear this.
By you continuing this narrative you are proving to be a troll.
Just give it a rest. Don't need a Neal Brown vs Dana Holgorsen contest all season.

The style Dana had wasn't going to win because WV would never have enough athletes at WR, never have that first round draft pick at QB and wouldn't ever have enough on defense to make an impact.

The question is can Neal Brown win at WVU building a complete roster.
Sometimes you have to get punched in the mouth a few times to see what you have as a team.

The question becomes how does WVU respond against NC State.

People are claiming DH inherited an entire team year one that was left to him. As though DHs coaching had nothing to do with the success of the team in that season.

Looking at the roster there were many freshman Holgorsen brought in that played for WVU and made contibutions to that great team. He didnt just inherit the team and go on autopilot, he coached players both that he brought in and that were on the team already to that successful result.

As long as people continue to try to convince Mountaineer fans to ignore the present results-- all is good, or worse, pretend that what the current staff is doing is somehow on the previous staffs hands, its necessary to point out the absolute fallacy of those arguments.

The current coach should face the exact same scrutiny these people applied to DH.

They didn't until after a few years.

From what I have gathered from this message board people who went after Dana didn't last long.
So they supported DH until the facts proved otherwise

Dana was in the BigEast. In the BigEast it was much easier to win with what Dana was doing because he had the most weapons.
In the Big 12 that is difficult to do because all these teams process talent at QB, RB and WR.
WVU as a fanbase wanted to go another direction. This was clear plus Dana was wanting out. His agent tried to get him the Maryland job, the Colorado job and the Texas Tech job.

Dana was left with some stars and that's what made the biggest difference. Brown has very few of those, especially in key positions. Was Dana given a better stocked team, absolutely. Was Brown left with nothing, not at all.

Not sure if serious Clark?

I sincerely doubt he had any interest whatsoever in the Twerp or Buffalo job. The TT Job I'd see him having an interest in.

His agent.
Agents put the name out there and then they decide where to go from there.
I don't think he actually interviewed for any job or if there was any interest.
I think Maryland and Locksley was 100%.
CU is the question. They don't usually put their business on the street but there were a few different sites that listed him as a possible candidate.

You are right about Tech but their AD made it known from the beginning they weren't interested in anyone from the Mike Leach coaching tree.

Dana may have been interested in Tech but they weren't interested in him. They wanted Venables.

His agent was shopping him after Thanksgiving. I think there were a few topics about it. It was well known that he was leaving. Houston came after the fact.
Rumor is Jake Spavital told someone the first or second week in December that Dana would leave WVU for Houston.
