There is a simple scenario that earns the Mountaineers a regular season Big XII title this year: The Big XII meets this week and decides that the Higgin's fiasco in Lawrence was so egregious that the Mountaineers should be awarded the victory ex post facto, leaving WV at 12 & 5 in conference play. Beat Texas on Saturday, leaving the 'eers at 13 & 5 in conference play. Sadly and horrendously North Korea unleashes a nuclear tipped ICBM on Lawrence prior to Saturday's game leaving a vaporized Jayhawk team at 13 & 4 in conference play. Ergo: The Mountaineers are default Big XII champs. Well, an old codger can dream can't he?
