A grant of rights means a school surrenders its primary media rights if it leaves the conference. Without saying it, Boren is saying it. OU could easily skip to another conference if it doesn't get what he wants. Some still blame him for driving Missouri to the SEC in 2011. Boren stated then Oklahoma would not be a “wallflower” in realignment.

As more than one source pointed out, though -- where can Oklahoma go at the moment? It would have to mount to legal challenge to what was advertised as that iron-clad agreement. There are likely political considerations if the Sooners are forced to take Oklahoma State with the in any move."

Ok will do anything it wants too. It is in WVU's interest to see they get what they want.

This is comical. How many ridiculous & pretty much the same threads are needed on a topic?

Hasn't basketball season started yet? I mean it's Presidents' Day, so the start of the real season should be getting closer.

Some issues with what Dodd claims and also an interesting statement in there that is something not heard before.

First one must consider the source. CBS Sports. CBS Sports appears to be at war with the BIG 12 for some reason. We know they have no BIG 12 product essentially on their networks. Maybe an occasional non conference basketball game at best. Is that why they continually write disparaging articles about the BIG 12 then claim any such disadvantage comes from within? Or is it the competition the idea of a BIG 12 network would present to their favorite league the SEC? Maybe afraid a highly successful BIG 12 takes away from their attempts to portray the SEC as the greatest ever? Maybe they want to destabilize the BIG 12 to get the valuable fanbases and markets of the BIG 12 into the SEC (doubt anyone believes A&M is really delivering full rate everywhere in the state of Texas for the SECn). Maybe its because they buy rights from ESPN to carry the AAC, and those teams seem like the most likely to be poached? Who knows but whatever it is they have launched a steady anti BIG 12 onslaught printing numerous articles with bias in the titles and negativity and misinformation in the body of those articles.

Here, they make an interesting statement--that i.e. BYU and Cincinnati could actually bump up the BIG 12's revenue to $23 million per school rather than $20 million per school average. But then they go on and insinuate that getting even pro rata shares wouldn't be possible. What Dodds leaves out is that Bowlsby confirmed that new schools will get at least pro rata shares if they expand. Its IN the contracts.

He claims Boren has caused more "consternation than actual action" but that isn't really true either--the conference has analysts actually gathering information now, and has presentations set for later this spring. That wouldn't have happened without Boren's actions.

Then later he claims Boren's actions are just some sinister plot to harm the BIG 12 in order to move OU somewhere else without explaining exactly how that would work. He never explains how this theory has been concocted or would play out. How exactly does stating the conference needs to make some comprehensive changes equate to setting up the conference for an OU exit again? This guy has been reading to many anti BIG 12 message board conspiracies. He's essentially ignoring the BIG 12s grant of rights while wildly speculating--really making up intentions when Boren stated exactly why he's doing what he's doing. He believes this can't go on forever, he's worried that all he was seeing in the conference is inaction and he has duties to the University of Oklahoma that frankly aren't going to be met by doing nothing--so its time for people involved to make their decisions.

Dodd makes very belligerent statements about BIG 12 leaders "freaking out" because TCU and Baylor were left out of the playoffs. Wonder if he'd have taken the same stance if the SEC or Big Ten had been artificially left out despite proving themselves? Doubt it.

Whatever is going on with these anti BIG 12 articles its very clear Dodd doesn't want the BIG 12 doing anything proactive.
