COLLEGE BASKETBALL 2015-2016 through results of 2015 DECEMBER 2 WEDNESDAY

Get back to me you play a road game. Noticed #1 UK ventured out for a true road and got that ass spanked!

Whether we play on the road or not, and whether we win that game or not, is irrelevant to your ranking.

Geez, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out we're no good....but you boys are nothing special either! When the season is over we'll both be but a footnote!

When did I say we are special?
I made a comment that you were ranked 100 spots higher than I thought, and you countered with us not playing a road game. That has absolutely nothing to do with our comment.

We are at VT, KSU and TCU all 2 days apart from each other Dec. 30th through Jan. 4th.
We also have #10VA at home on the 8th.

We couldn't control the LV Invitational, but I was hoping we'd get Cal at the end since they were ranked #14/15.

But, since you like comparisons, Richmond was averaging 90+ points a game and we held them to 59, and then they turned around and scored 94 in beating Cal.

Having said that, we haven't proven or shown anything yet ... you'll get no argument there. We've spanked a bunch of teams that are no good, and a couple that might be good, but it's too early to tell.

Our test is coming.
Your tests, sadly, have already come and you've failed. I don't think they were even supposed to be tests.

Yes, you're tests are coming, as they are for all of us! If WVU hoists the National Championship Trophy in April....nobody will cheer them harder than me, that will be a tremendous accomplishment! But honesty compels me to say that I think the chances of that are remote....you'll be right here with the rest of us also rans!

*your
LOL

Anyway, yeah, I think our chances are remote of hoisting the trophy, but I'm confident enough in getting into the tourney to get a chance at it. Once there ... anything can happen. UConn wasn't the best team in the nation a couple years ago, but they took the trophy home.

To refer to everybody that doesn't win it as an also ran ...... a bit of a stretch. I would lump all that don't make the tournament in that category, but not everybody that doesn't win.

Objectively one school/team had a undeniable great season. Everybody else can claim subjective degrees of intrinsic success. I submit nobody remembers who finished second. BTW I agree UConn wasn't the best team that year but they caught fire in the tourny and had a great player.

That is the most pathetic comment I have seen. There is only one champion, but plenty of teams play for "something". Just because Marshall's season is over before it starts, in both football and basketball, doesn't mean that is so for everyone...

Ummmm..."something" a very broad concept if your goals are low enough!

Well, that "something" is national recognition, and the dollars that come with it.

We could play the exact same schedule and have the exact same scores, but if we weren't coming off a Sweet 16 year, or if it had been a decade since we even made the dance, we wouldn't be ranked right now.

When you're ranked, you get more exposure and more televised games, and more money coming in. The farther you get in the tournament, the more money you bring in for your conference and your school.

When you have continued success, you get more attendance which also means more money, but it also means more of a home court advantage as well.

There's a lot to play for, even if you don't take home the big trophy at the end of the year.

I didn't even mention recruits ... if you aren't making the dance or aren't ever advancing in the dance, you aren't going to have an advantage in recruiting.

"We've made the Sweet 16 8 out of the last 9 times we've been in the tournament, including an Elite 8 and Final 4 appearance. We know what we are doing and we know what we are building and YOU, young man, are going to be a big piece in getting us farther"

vs.

"We haven't made the big dance in 30 years, we think if you come here that maybe we'll finally make it ... maybe. Hell, we might even win a game."

Quick, tell me who was in the 2009 final four! You can't do it and neither could I .

I couldn't even tell you who the champion was in 2009 off the top of my head, so what's your point?

Do you think any of those teams reaped more benefits for being in the Final Four than they would have if they didn't make the dance at all?
