It appears the brief but up-and-down career of Larry Jefferson in Morgantown has come to an abrupt end.

The former junior college transfer had been suspended from participating in West Virginia’s spring practices for violating unspecified team rules. Now, WV MetroNews is reporting, the defensive lineman was arrested late Tuesday morning and charged with drug possession. “Jefferson was stopped on Clay Street in Morgantown as officers were investigating a brandishing incident at South University Plaza in Morgantown,” the website wrote, and was subsequently found to be carrying small amounts of cocaine and marijuana.

According to the Dominion Post, Jefferson was holding .6 grams of coke and one gram of weed.

While WVU officials have yet to comment publicly on the situation, Jefferson’s name has been removed from the Mountaineers’ online roster. Jefferson had not been reinstated from his spring suspension, but, prior to this incident, he had been expected to be on the field for the start of summer camp early next month and be a part of WVU’s line rotation this season as a pass-rush specialist.

After coming to WVU following two seasons at a Mississippi JUCO, Jefferson played in nine games for the Mountaineers last season.

DH has zero tolerance for this kind of thing.

He probably bought the coke from Doc.

Yes because doc has a long history of drunken encounters, casino mishaps, and pounds red bull like water. Holgerson even looks the part of coke head.

Jeez, Dave! That's a good way to get sued for slander. This is a public board. While Johnny is a public figure and is open to about anything people want to say about him, that's pushing it.

Those coke rumors have followed Johnny for a long time. I've never really bought them. I've known him forever, and it doesn't really add up re; his core group of long time friends.

A lot of people did coke as party drug in the 70's and 80's, but the large majority have long given it up. If he fooled around with it a little then, who cares? A few million other folks did, too. However, his brother should have been locked up a long time ago. The meth thing was the tip of the iceberg with that boy.

Johnny is one of those guys you either like or don't. I don't, but I'm not going to hold something everyone was doing 35 years ago over someone the rest of their life if they may have decided to give it a taste.

I will have to take your word for it. I figure since coke is doc's family business though.

Yep, running a meth lab in his garage in a nice upscale subdivision. In his 40's, no less. There's a time to grow up and he missed it by a couple of decades. I'm not sure if their parents are still alive, but if they were, they were probably embarrassed to death. They were very nice folks.

He was part of the bunch that ran around with my youngest sister. There were about seven of them. I don't think their collective IQ reached double digits? One of the girls got a decent sized inheritance from her grandmother. She took the money and moved to south Florida, to, and I quote, "Quit my cocaine habit." My brother called me laughing his ass off about it. It would be like moving to Colorado to give up weed these days.

As the comedian said, "You can't cure stupid."

That's funny.
I spent a couple years in FL in the late 80's and drugs were EVERYWHERE!! You could be minding your own business and people would walk up to you offering to sell you something. One guy ran up beside my car as I was driving on the beach in Daytona. I got offered drugs from the car next to me at stoplights more times than I can remember.

I was outside a car stereo store and a guy walks up to me carrying a toddler asking me if I want to go in halves with him on a bail of green.

It was definitely the LAST place to go to get away from drugs.
