This entire post is pointless, but as I sit at my desk, I am not ready to start work yet due to my preoccupation with what’s going on at WVU.

Any way…

Looking at close games the last 4 years under brown (I define that as games decided by 7 points or less)…

In 47 total games under Brown, 20 have been decided by 7 points or less. 12 of those were wins, and 8 were losses.

In 2019 we had a final overall record of 5-7. Six games were decided by 7 points or less. Had we won all the close games, our record could have improved to 7-5. Had we lost all close games (games decided by 7 points or less) we could have finished 1-11.

In 2020 we went 6-4 during the covid season. Four games were decided by 7 points or less. Had we won all the close games, our record would have been 8-2. Had we lost all close games, our record would have been 4-6.

2021 actual record 6-7. Could have been 9-4 had we won all the close games. Could have been 3-9 had we lost all the close ones. (Wouldn’t have qualified for a bowl with only 3 wins)

2022 actual record 5-7. Could have been 6-6 or 2-10. (At 6-6 we would have received a bowl bid).

So Brown’s overall actual record is 22-25.

It could have been as high as 30-17.

It could be as bad as 13-33 (minus bowl loss to Minnesota that we would not have qualified for).

Not sure anything can be taken away from all that. He hasn’t significantly improved or regressed in close wins vs close losses.

Can’t really say we are getting closer to starting to win or starting to completely fail.

2019 - 6 close games
2020 - 4 close games
2021 - 6 close games
2022 - 4 close games (I debated counting Kansas since it went into overtime but they won by more than 7 with the pick 6 in OT.)
