Garner (N.C.) defensive lineman Matthew Butler told me he hadn't heard much from West Virginia prior to offering him earlier this week but he did tell me he looks at every school that extends an offer in depth and doesn't rule out anybody until he gets to know about the program. Butler is already well over 25 offers and most of his new ones have told him that they hope they aren't too late but he has assured them that it's never going to be too late for him. Still West Virginia is going to have to play some catchup here because he has started to get an idea of some schools that are sticking out to him. Defensive line coach Bruce Tall is the lead recruiter here and he told me he isn't sure about visits this summer. Butler is 6-foot-4, 263-pounds and is being recruited on the interior and on the edge. He is very well spoken and right now this is going to be tough for the Mountaineers but the door is certainly not closed.
