When you run out of cash, you do indeed have to sell things. He's trying to get the others to drop out now 6 months before the first primary. Why? He needs more campaign cash, and wants them to drop out so he'll get there donors. Still not happening, those donors will sit on the fence, won't back a loser.

Things of course can change, but Dems aren't spending all their money trying to get rid of Trump because they think he's a loser. Same thing with GOP voters. They have a wide field to chose from, so far no one's within 40 points of Trump.
