Nicco is a redshirt freshman. Greene is now in his what 4th year as a redshirt jr. Greene also had some bone head throws and a stupid penalty against Houston. Without out the summer preparation of Nicco there would not be wins against Pitt or Texas Tech. Greene was exactly where Nicco was at the same time he began. WVU WR drop more open balls than any team in college no matter who the starting QB is.It's homecoming dude! It is nice to dream. That was kind of a big deal pre Brown.
Greene is finally developing some chemistry with the WR's. The fact that he had to split time with Nicco all offseason hinderd some of that. I'm not even sure how Neal even thought Nicco was close to Greene and the QB battle even happened. Well nevermind I know how, because he's an idiot, but here's the thing..... Greene seems to get better every game and he had some really nice throws against Houston. Those kids lost a heartbreaker that they should have won, and I expect them to bounce back in a big way. OSU is a figment of what they usually are. The D steps up big.....js. WVU wins despite Neal...
Greene should have been starting the last 3 years. He would be way further along and more developed.Nicco is a redshirt freshman. Greene is now in his what 4th year as a redshirt jr. Greene would not be starting for many of the Big 12 teams in the conference. He needs to learn to throw on the run, hit the intermediate pass in the middle and read a defense. Yes for now he is better than Nicco. Greene proved that to me in the spring game. If you believe there was a battle for starting QB then you need to learn coach speak. There was never a battle and everyone knew who the starter was going to be.
Nicco will be a fine QB given time. If he doesn't transfer.
OSU is the hottest team in Big 12 besides OU and Texas.
I expect a win but I also expected one against Houston as well.
Hate to burst your bubble but Nicco is going to be a good QB. Either here or someplace else.Greene should have been starting the last 3 years. He would be way further along and more developed.
It doesnt take much prep to be able to hand the ball off. He learned that in peewee football. Without the D, those games were lost. Greene is leaps and bounds better this year. No way Nicco was showing the same as Greene in TC. Neal is either bad at talent eval, or he plays favorites. He has held Greene back too much.
Neither would Nicco or any other QB Neal has brought to WVU.
OSU is hot, so its the perfect time to beat them. They havent faced a D like ours yet. I think they are going to get after thr QB today in a big way. Hope so.
I expect more wins than we end up with, and I'll expect another one today. Perhaps those expectations are why I dont trust the climb....
Just win!
You are not bursting my bubble at all. I have said probably dozens of times on here, including to you, that Nicco has a higher ceiling than Greene. Never disputed that. Greene is not NFL material at all, and tbh Nicco probably isnt either, although he should be closer. But Greene has more heart and has earned the time. He is clearly the better QB for right now. The idea that we would have had morev losses with Greene the last couple years is a guess. Brown will not tweak the scheme to fit the talent though, so you are probably right. He's a square peg in a round hole kind of coach...Hate to burst your bubble but Nicco is going to be a good QB. Either here or someplace else.
Greene is not NFL material and is not leaps and bounds ahead of anyone. He's decent QB and is serviceable for the moment. If Greene had been starting the past 3 years WVU would be far worse than the mediocre 5-7.
Personally I think Neal goes by the antics of seniority which can wreck your depth on a team. That's how you build true depth. If a new guy comes in and beats out your starter then so be it. Instant depth. With the portal and NIL teams like WVU will rarely have depth any longer.
