Once again, early results and not complete. Also, almost all of these projections include the CFP as 1.-Alabama - 2. - Clemson - 3. - Ohio State - 4. - Washington.

Russell Athletic Bowl Date: Dec. 28 Orlando, Florida

Russell Athletic Bowl Projection: Miami vs. West Virginia

BIG Xii BOWL PROJECTIONS AS OF 11/26/16:

Allstate Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma

Valero Alamo Bowl: Oklahoma State

Russell Athletic Bowl: West Virginia

Advocare V100 Texas Bowl: Kansas State

AutoZone Liberty Bowl: TCU

Cactus Bowl: Baylor

Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl: none (Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas & ISU not bowl eligible)

don't we open against VT next year? Not sure they would choose that match up.

FSU would be fun, we need to get them back from 2009 or whenever it was.

Alamo Bowl is my first preference, but i think they have to take either OU or OSU.

Do you think it's likely that Texas goes to the Armed Forces Bowl? Several 5-7 teams will get bids this year, and given that Texas' APR is in the ballpark I find it hard to believe that they won't be offered.

Possible, as you note it has happened before. But I'm not sure Texas is deserving especially with the coaching turmoil. Will Tom Herman coach either team in a bowl game?

The last thing Texas fans should want is another football game.

They don't have to do anything. Remember that most of the bowls still operate the same way they always did. Alamo has the second CHOICE of available Big 12 teams, it is not second PLACE.

Okay, I must be confused. I know the Sugar Bowl has to take the highest ranked SEC team (I'm assuming the highest ranked Big 12 team also). That's why the UF, Auburn, LSU final ranking is such a big deal to figure out which one of them will play OU or OSU.

That is correct, Numbers. Just remember that the way the NY6 games operate is not necessarily the same as all the other lower bowls.

If Herman will coach UT in that bowl game....I would take the bid. It gives him a few weeks to evaluate his returning players and start introducing them to his offense/defense.

If it's Strong...no. Only another chance to damage the brand.

i realize some people like bowls for the fact they can play teams they won't normally play, but with the backyard brawl not being played for a few years yet ...an installment this year in orlando would get me to travel for sure.

That's the whole point of bowls in the first place.

All the member berries out there who liked "The Force Awakens", thought bowls against Syracuse and Maryland were a great idea, and loved going to the Charlotte Turd Bowl because "it's closer" will be creaming themselves for another regurgitated helping of the same old thing. No, thanks. You guys can have it.

Correct, the Big Xii Champ, if not in the CFP, is committed to the Sugar Bowl; probably OU. IF OU would get a CFP slot, then OSU would most likely fill that slot as the Conference Runner-up. Then the remaining Bowls get to "pick" their match-up.

If OU did get a CFP slot and OSU went to the Sugar Bowl as the BigXii representative, then the Valero Alamo Bowl gets the next pick and can choose what they feel is their best team; probably WVU. However, it is more likely that OU gets the Sugar Bowl as the BigXii champ and the Alamo picks next and MAY take OSU, although they could still take WVU if they feel it would be a better match-up against the PAC 12 selection.

Next pick is the Russell Athletic Bowl and so on...

I'd much prefer the Alamo, especially if we got to play Colorado. That would be a great matchup. I suspect they will end up in the Rose Bowl though and USC in the Alamo.

Still, I'd rather play USC over any ACC team.

I think with the exception of proximity of Orlando to many fans, most would prefer a PAC 12 match-up just for the novelty and a new bowl venue.

I can see a Pitt/WVU game happening very easily if Clemson wins this weekend.

Clemson goes to the CFP
Florida St./Louisville go to Orange/Citrus
That leaves VT or Pitt for Orlando unless they go with unranked Miami.

the often overlooked Latrobe airport, about hour and half from Morgantown for those not familiar.

closer the day gets, cheaper the ticket gets. i went down to the parents day before thanksgiving for 46 bucks.

I'll have to file that away in the something to keep in mind as a way to save $$$$.

After doing an analysis of the ACC/B1G arrangement with the Orange/Citrus Bowls I would think that the B1G will get the Orange Bowl bid since the winner of the CCG will get left out of the CFP and can claim the B1G championship. That moves the next highest ranked ACC team to the Citrus and the Russell Athletic will get the next ACC team in line, probably FSU.

So the projection is Clemson to the CFP, Louisville to the Orange against the winner of Wisky/PSU, FSU (if they hold their position) to the Russell Athletic.

On the Big Xii side the winner of OU/OSU goes to the Sugar Bowl, then the Alamo Bowl can pick from the OU/OSU loser or WVU. Which ever team doen't get the Alamo gets the RAB.

ex-pat, the problem with your analysis is that Florida St moved one spot ahead of Louisville in the new rankings last night. Thus, at this point, Orange would have to take FSU and not Louisville.

However, I could see the committee possibly reversing themselves on those two teams' rankings next week as more people point out the idiocy of having two 9-3 teams ranked side by side...but also having the team which won the head-to-head matchup 63-20 ranked one spot behind the team which lost it.

Got your point, also Louisville is 7-1 in conference and FSU is 5-3; I'd give the nod to Louisville for the higher ranking. Louisville in conference has any H2H advantage over FSU. I think the rankings will work themselves out.
