Bill Stewart Won 9 Games Every Year

THOSE UNDERCLASSMEN KIDS DID NOTHING THE 2008 SEASON.......... that's the point. You don't get to credit-back talent that wasn't there at the time.

Marvin Graves didn't get drafted until 2011............... Pat White was out of football by that point and so was Bill Stewart.

you don't get to beat the 2007 Bama team and then defend it by saying "Yea, but look at all the talent they've put in the NFL since!"

Keaton

What are you talking about!! TJ Yates and Shaun Draughns the starting QB and RB on that team was still playing in the NFL last year.

lol at pointing out an undrafted guy that took years to catch on in the league....

you can try to build that UNC team up into something it wasn't, but no one is buying it as anything more than revisionist history.

Again, that UNC defense was the ONLY defense to ever let Pat White throw for 300 yards in his career.............. Pat only had 6 games of 200 yards or more passing before that bowl game in 4 years.

Basically what you're saying here is "Defense doesn't exist in my football world"

and lol at calling out Draughn's NFL career........... dude has a CAREER TOTAL of 700 yards. AND EVEN STILL, he went undrafted in 2011............. we played UNC in 2008. Draughn wasn't remotely the quality of player in 2008 he was in 2011....

And TJ Yates was drafted in 2011............ not 2009 or 2010. Again, not the same quality of player we faced in 2008..... stop trying to apply credit to ability retro-actively.

Draughn's co-running back on that team Greg Little is still in the NFL along with 6 other guys from that team still play in the NFL.

Does it really matter TJ was drafted or that he played for 6 years in the show.

21 kids from that UNC team that played that day went on to play in the NFL.....true the talent was not in the defensive backfield which may have been their weakness but they had real talent everywhere else.

"They had real talent eventually"

and your 21 number is complete bullshit.

Keep trying to ignore a little thing called time.

If they had talent, they'd have done better than 8 wins and a loss at UVA

hell, Brandon Tate had a torn ACL..... lol how does he count again?

all those kids that 5150 supposedly thinks played that day, lol................ here's the box score including defense.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/boxscores/2008-12-27-north-carolina.html

All 5150 did was go to the Wikipedia page and count how many guys on the 2008 roster did AT ONE TIME touch an NFL roster in some way... he had/has no idea who was actually on the field that day.

but I do

So I just looked at both lists and 17 kids played that went on to the NFL are in the box score...5 on offense and 12 on defense. The fullback, TE, olineman from the NFL list don't show on the box score...they may have played may not have played just not in the box score...but my guess is they played....I also thought Tate had played in that game but don't see him in the box score...so that is 20 and add in Tate at WR their is your 21...so if he sat out due injury then my numbers were spot on

5150 and AllEers holding a palm full of seeds and talking about all the trees they have
After that UNC game, I ran into a young man and his father at the movie theater in Myrtle Beach. Both guys were big and he was wearing a UNC jersey. Struck up a convo with them, he was on the UNC team, and he said their game plan was to make Pat throw it. They never thought he would be successful, couldn't believe he was able to do it to their defense. I told them he was a winner and always found a way to win.

you're still ignoring a thing called time...... the talent of those kids when they stepped on the field against us was not what it was YEARS LATER when they got drafted or signed as UFAs....

it's like saying our 2013 team was "loaded" with NFL talent because we had Smallwood, Worley, White, Alford, Joseph, Barber, Dillon, Glowinski, Kwiatkoski, Pankey, Dreamius, Spain and Gibson.... when NONE of those guys were of the quality that they became later in their college careers.

Your argument above was my numbers were wrong...now that my numbers are right your saying something different....bottom line that UNC team was good and well coached...maybe Stew's best win behind OU

Your numbers were wrong................ you didn't even know Brandon Tate had a blown knee... lol

"maybe Stew's best win behind OU"

sad

lol
Tell that to Georgia when WVU was young with Slaton, White, Schmitt, and Renaud. Young talent that all went on to play in the show. Talent is talent sure it gets better but its still high level talent

I told you I missed one....deflect from the facts....the number is still 20....

No, it isn't 20 UNC players that played that day............ you didn't do your research.

"Yea but 21 guys who were on that roster............ well they eventually made it to the NFL"

See my 2013 example that you're working hard to ignore.
I just looked

20 players from the box score played in the NFL....what is so hard to understand...your trying to deflect...

who cares about 2013...your deflecting.....the game was played in 2008...you posted the box score and thought it was going to say something really different then the list of kids that went on to the NFL...it was not different...20 kids from the box score went on to play in the nfl

"who cares about 2013..."

really means...

"you made a good point, but I won't admit it"

kids listed in a box score from 2008....... who didn't make it in the NFL until 2011 and 2012....... aren't NEARLY the same level of player that stood on the field in 2008.

Again, you're working hard to ignore a thing called time.

if 2008 UNC Football was "loaded" with NFL players then so was our 2013 roster, by your shitty argument.

Not a shitty argument your just trying to discredit a former coaches win by saying the UNC was no good......once you got into the debate you noticed you were wrong on how many of those UNC players went to the show and now your trying to deflect.....you also said there defense sucked because Pat White threw for a lot of yards but after further review more kids on that team from the defense went pro then the offense......again you were proven wrong!

Never said UNC was "no good"

your "lawyer buddy in Charleston" tell you that? Might want to try to read the thread that triggers you.

"you also said there defense sucked because Pat White threw for a lot of yards but after further review more kids on that team from the defense went pro then the offense......again you were proven wrong!"

Their defense did suck................... and just because kids on the roster in 2008 went to the NFL later on doesn't mean they were any good in 2008. Their defense gave up over 300 yards passing to a QB who couldn't throw the ball......... who had never thrown for more than 219 yards in a game and whose inability to throw got him booted from the NFL after one season. Hell, Pat went the whole 2007 season without hitting the 200 yard mark in his passing game.

You keep trying to ignore Time............. you'd think a poster of your age would be well aware of time at this point.

There wasn't a kid on that 2008 UNC defense that day who was drafted in the following NFL draft nor made it as a free agent............ in fact, only 2 of the defensive players that day were drafted in 2010 or made it as a F.A.....

Stop trying to give 2008 credit for 2011 events.

So if/when Sagaba Konate gets drafted in the 2019 NBA Draft.......

to 5150, that means Sags was "an NBA level" player in 2017? When he averaged 3pts a game?

The 2007 team would’ve lost 2-3 games in the Big 12 as well. It’s easy to get up for a big bowl game coming out of the Big East against a big opponent versus facing a Big 12 schedule only to face a big east opponent in a big bowl. It’s a letdown. It was our super bowl. Not so much for Oklahoma. Not to mention it takes 2-3 deep depth to play through a Big 12.
Any claim that the wvu team of 2007 would have lost 2-3 games is pure speculation on your part. I have lived in Big 8/12 country for over 35 years and it has been one of the weakest and most overrated conferences in college football. They used to call the big 8 Nebraska and the 7 dwarfs in the 90's. When the Big 12 came into existence in 96 it was known as the big 2. In 2007 Kansas of all teams finished 2nd and went to the orange Bowl. Teams like Baylor and okie state were nothing until Briles and Gundy arrived. T tech was terrible pre leach. It only took a mountain west team 3 years to win a share of the big 12 title but look who their coach is. If wvu gets a good coach they can compete for top 3 finishes most year's is this overrated conference.

Bill Stewart
was under more pressure
than anyone could imagine ....

If wvu gets a good coach they can compete for top 3 finishes most year's is this overrated conference.
well, they lost 2 games in the big east in 2007. Hardly speculation. Unless you’re delusional and think the big east was better.

You’re losing this argument badly, 51.

Do better.
I think the point being made is UNC had quality talent on that team, and yes, it was not NFL ready talent but it was still top notch college talent. Im not sure why Keaton can not at least acknowledge this fact. Me thinks Keaton didn't do his research before getting into this debate and now he is having a hard time defending himself.
