Bill Stewart Won 9 Games Every Year

Who did Bill play in the regular season to attain those mighty 9-3 records?
We hired Dana to have us competing at a higher level. Go back to the presser when Dana he was hired.

Here is the problem, he is winning just enough to not get fired but not well enough to win at a high level. Stuck right in the middle.

Yeah we get it now that you've cleared it up. Six or seven wins are now the norm for DH and his band of merry followers lol.
im not a fan of Dana. However, to think Stewart would do better in the Big 12 is crazy. We’ll never know his record in the Big 12, but when you nearly lose to Marshall and get beaten by scrubs like Colorado, you know it wouldn’t be good. Not to mention the downward spiral in recruiting

And Sam Huff said WVU fans weren't going to be thrilled with being regular team in a P-5 league afterwards due to demographic and monetary resources not being on par with the major teams in the conference.

It's not the coach, it's not the AD, it's a numbers game. WVU doesn't have the people or the resources to make a run at the B-12 football championship most years.

Considering Dana has been our only coach in the much better big 12, we don’t know our par or ceiling. What I do know, Dana is proving “record wise” to be slightly above our historical average in yearly wins.

Dana will struggle to get there this year, even with Mr. Heisman at QB.
Its a miracle Dana made it past his first two years. Don't get me wrong this has worked out much better then I ever thought, but the all night drinking, the Joe Deforest hiring(plus others), and the other total lack of administrative skills must have been a nightmare for Ollie to manage. Ollie did a good job of getting Dana help and now we are in decent situation.

We are in a much better position then we have been in the past. We can still win at a high level but it takes a good coach

I just went and looked at the link attached. He is right! A bunch of those kids did play pro football(high draft picks as well).

lol, stop.................. they were an 8 win team who lost to UVA.

you're trying to add credibility to names that was achieved YEARS LATER after 2008

guys like Greg Little were nobodies then in 2008.

So your trying to get another 25 profiles going. How long do you think these will last before...

The disciples of Fluffer Holgorsen like to tell us How much harder the Big bad Big 12 is I am just glad that the 2007 WVU team didn't buy into that crap. Its funny how the big 12 is so much harder crowd omits that fact.

What are you considering the past? I remember a 6-6 Utah team from a conference that went 1-8 in bowls last season.

no way bill stewart should have ever been coach of wvu he was not the coach to take wvu very far he was not a very good head coach i did not think he should have ever been the head coach here

All we had to do was leverage the ball. That, and jut our jaw, bow our backs, and play like we were in an old fashioned fist fight. Then our fine young lads could have lubricated the world and their brides.

The 2007 team would’ve lost 2-3 games in the Big 12 as well. It’s easy to get up for a big bowl game coming out of the Big East against a big opponent versus facing a Big 12 schedule only to face a big east opponent in a big bowl. It’s a letdown. It was our super bowl. Not so much for Oklahoma. Not to mention it takes 2-3 deep depth to play through a Big 12.

He also beat a UNC that was loaded!

Loaded with what?

They finished 7-6. Also had all 7 wins vacated for NCAA sanctions. NCAA's notice of allegations outlining nine violations, the school said it will cut three scholarships for each of the next three academic years.

go look, like 20 some kids on that team played pro football and a couple up until just the last couple of years were still playing. Talent is talent

maybe right but Dana was hired to take this program to a higher level

Talent is not talent

A freshman who didn’t see the field in 2008 isn’t the same talent that eventually made it to the NFL

DONT BE SO STUPID

take the freshman out and you still have 15

Facts are facts

Dana has produced at a C+ to B- pace to this point in his career and this season is no different.

take the non-factors from that year out........ and you don't have an argument. That team had an undrafted QB and Hakeem Nicks

Here's the 2009 NFL draft (the one after the bowl)

1st round - Nicks (WR)
2nd round - Quinn (TE)
3rd round - Tate (WR)
5th round - Foster (WR who didn't even play in the bowl game)

that UNC team had zero defense........... hell, Pat White threw for over 300 yards against them. That's all the damning evidence needed. Pat only threw for over 200 yards that season twice before the bowl game... lol

that is one season, look at the underclassman kids on that team that played pro football. Marvin Austin the DT (9) was the 52nd pick (2nd round) plus others

THOSE UNDERCLASSMEN KIDS DID NOTHING THE 2008 SEASON.......... that's the point. You don't get to credit-back talent that wasn't there at the time.

Marvin Graves didn't get drafted until 2011............... Pat White was out of football by that point and so was Bill Stewart.

you don't get to beat the 2007 Bama team and then defend it by saying "Yea, but look at all the talent they've put in the NFL since!"
