Holy Heck, Code Breakers is a cosmetic gloss over the massive hack of our DNA and genetics by China that I knew underlay the whole COVID drama. P 427, Feng Zhang, one of the scientists racing to develop CRISPR, gets a call from the Chinese consulate and other Chinese scientists basically asking him ‘what he can do’ to create a COVID test that harvests DNA! He sees this as ‘irrelevant’ given the pressures of the pandemic.

The lab that tests you for COVID can extract your RNA and code your individual identifier along with your RNA. It’s a perfect opportunity to harvest human RNA for CRISPR experiments.
