Big 12/SEC Challenge Times & Networks Announced
Irving, Texas – The networks and most times for the third annual Big 12/SEC Challenge presented by SONIC have been finalized, the two conferences and ESPN have announced.
For the first time, all 10 games in the Challenge are slated to be played on one day - a common bye date of Saturday, January 30, 2016 during the conference schedules. Each league will host five contests in a field that includes nine teams ranked in the ESPN.com preseason top 25 - including five from the Big 12 (No. 5 Kansas, No. 7 Iowa State, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 17 Baylor and No. 20 West Virginia).
ESPN’s College GameDay Covered by State Farm – the Saturday morning and evening roadshow that discusses the top storylines of the college basketball season – will originate from one of the Challenge games, to be announced at a later date.
The Big 12 has won the event each of its first two seasons, capturing victories in six of 10 matchups in 2014 and seven of 10 meetings in 2013. The Big 12 has posted a 41-27 (.603) record in the last two conference challenge series it has played (vs. Pac-10, SEC) dating back to 2007.
