When is the supposed bump in our recruiting, from joining the Big 12, going to occur?

Looks like it did for the last two years. Not looking at this year since it's not in the book but when you compare the last two years and how many of the kids actually matriculated to WVU, against the classes of RR and Stew that were admitted to
WVU, it's not close. What you have right now is real recruiting of kids that qualify vs. kids that were recruited that were never going to get in. What a waste of money that was. Trying to say RR or Stew were recruiting at the same level is intellectually dishonest. Those that do continue to use players that everybody knew were never going to be allowed in school.
Holgorson has his fair share of recruits that are no longer in the program. Attrition is a normal part of any program. Holgorson has not brought in recruits significantly better than his predecessors. He had a good class in 2013 but it wasn't any better than Stewart 1st class or Rodriquez's last class. He has done the worst job of any Wvu coach when it comes to recruiting QB's Wvu had better Qb's even in the pre big east days

If you really want to critique recruiting you can look at Beatty on Stew's staff and the first 3 years of Holgs staff. Recruiting was pretty average with them on staff. If looks like that with seider, Galloway, Mitchell etc, there's much better emphasis on qualifying kids than on taking chances.
You can complain about RR all you want but he found some diamonds in the rough and made good on it as for stew he gave smith, austin and Bailey. If you want to compete sometimes you have to take chances its no point on recruiting someone who will qualify if he doesn't give you the opportunity to win a conference championship especially considering you have a coach who is deficient in his in game management and clock management
You cannot compete without players. Back then you had limited funds and to recruit kids that were never going to qualify was pretty stupid. Now, the post wasn't about finding a few diamonds in the rough, it was about strength of recruiting, about the Big12 bump. You listed RR but none of his players made much of an impact in the NFL whereas, stew's have. Holgs has a couple with bruce making as big a splash as anybody. I looked at the 2013 list and 23-26 made it in and a lot have played. Name me one RR class that got that many in and most played? He took some very marginal players, academic and character wise, and turned some into very good players. We can't do that now in this league.
Like Tyrek Cole?Looks like it did for the last two years. Not looking at this year since it's not in the book but when you compare the last two years and how many of the kids actually matriculated to WVU, against the classes of RR and Stew that were admitted to

Kids do leave but the op was bump. Kids that get in and stay for a year or two or three is far better than recruiting someone who was never going to qualify. Waste of resources and that's what I was talking about. You can't compete without players yes but you can't compete without the right players either. When it comes to Bruce Irwin he was Stewart's recruit not Holgorson and he came to wvu from the juco ranks and he was a player of very questionable character but he payed off for us. Every school takes chances wvu will probably have to take more than others if it wants to compete with Oklahoma and Texas when they finally return to form. In the case of RR and NFL players no he didn't put many into the pro's but he recruited players to execute his system to a T and the talent level was improving toward the end of his tenure. You can quote how many players qualify and enroll but how many will leave before there time is up and holgorson hasn't done much better than his predecessors when it comes to retention
So, exclude several years of results, exclude our best recruit from last year, and exclude all the busts, and we are recruiting much better. Riiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhtttttt...Yes one does prove the rule, not the exception. I don't remember his name but RR listed a recruit that was involved in a homicide. He was a four star though and then served time in prison. Cole did make it in, didn't he? So he did qualify?

We are currently ranked #33 for 2016 recruiting. Hopefully that improves, but saying that is better than what Rodriguez or Stew got -- even with the defections -- is intellectually dishonest. Defections and busts happen in every class, and will happen with this class too...

I've been waiting 27 years for the mythical bump..played Notre Dame for all the marblesWhen is the supposed bump in our recruiting, from joining the Big 12, going to occur?
IMO the overall quality and depth have improved somewhat. The problem I see is Dana and company haven't been able to recruit enough impact players....especially at QB and offense in general. In the past WVU made it's living getting a few impact guys and a lot of projects with big upsides to coach up and become contributors. Those guys play with a chip on the shoulder and make things happen. Take those guys and sprinkle in guys like Slaton, Amos, Devine, White, Bulger, Tavon, Geno, Major, Hoss, Avon and you've got something to work with. So basically you have fewer guys who never contribute but also fewer guys that can carry the team.
Duquesne converted Chavis Rawlins to WR..I know he caught at least one TD in 2014..he wasn't on the roster this year.Just can't see where any improvement other than numbers have occurred under DH. And the recruiting at the QB spot....forget that...can't be called recruiting.
Durante has the hands of an offensive tackle. Hopefully he makes the same type of improvement Kevin White did, but at this point he hasn't lived up to the hype. Sills couldn't even beat out Skyler Howard. His four star ranking is about as suspect as Crest's. Douglas is a JUCO,who will hopefully pan out. Holgorsen has had a lot better success recruiting JUCOs than high school kids. I am still waiting for us to recruit a Geno Smith, Stedman Bailey, or Tavon Austin, out of high school. Until then, the recruiting isn't any better than Stewart's...Cole was not the best recruit from last year. Durante, Sills and Douglas were all 4 stars that have contributed. it was stated that Cole going to redshirt anyway due to his lack of strength and size. If you are going to deny that the last two to three years that most of the recruits have a good chance to get in and stick, then there is no use in arguing. All you have to do is go back and look at the classes. it's not even close.
Very good point, steeleer...Well put.
Dana's results have been a higher floor (less bad players) and a lower ceiling (less game changers). You win games with game changers....esp at QB and Dana hasn't done it there so far.
Another very good point, steeleer...RR did the best job of developing talent at WVU out of our last 3 coaches and it isn't close. He did the most with the least.
To answer the OP....when we start winning B12 titles.
I would agree with that -- especially on the offensive side. I think we are getting a good mix of quality and depth on the defensive side now...IMO the overall quality and depth have improved somewhat. You have to discount facts like that which don't support the story some want to concoct. Just drink the kool-aid!As I just posted in the other thread, 9 of the 22 people listed on this site as 2014 commits are not on the 2015 roster.
That means we only retained about 59% of the class (so far). attrition has been an issue for a while for us. It is no better than it ever was and when a 2 minute comparison of readily available info shows that, you destroy your credibility when you claim otherwise.
You are... Marshall!LMAO - a trailer park discussion of WVU recruiting.

Very good point Billy Bob.
