#2 Kansas survived Iowa State, 76-72.

Big 12 is really tough. 3-3 team gives 6-0 team a hard time.

WVU and Baylor remain 1 game behind Kansas.

Baylor faces Texas on Tuesday. Don’t count out the Longhorns, even in a death-spiral season.

Wednesday will be WVU’s day to try to get by an Oklahoma team that’s having a tough season, just like Texas, and we saw how scary that was.

TCU visits Texas Tech and Kansas State goes to Oklahoma State.

The Big 12 tournament may be a knockdown, dragout battle between ranked and unranked teams.

Big 12 reminds me of Big East basketball in its glory days.

Big East was by far the best conference in all college basketball top to bottom.
Big East was the best in its heyday. But bottom-feeders didn't do as well as today's Big 12 bottom feeders. Texas & Oklahoma, near the bottom, are better than the bottom-feeders in the Big East's prime. The penthouse teams fed on the Big East bottom-feeders.

The 1984-85 Big East was the best conference in the history of college basketball PERIOD

Not top to bottom, like today's Big 12.
Seton Hall 10-18. Providence 11-12. UConn 13-15.
ONE-THIRD the teams had abysmal records. Top of the conference: Fabulous! Top to bottom, I say the Big 12 today is better. Only 2 (20%) have losing records, and they are Oklahoma (8-9) and Texas (7-11), having a rare bad season.

The WORST record among the top 6 in the Big 12 (60%) is 14-4. OOC, Kansas is 11-1, Baylor is 12-0, WVU is 11-1, Texas Tech is 11-1, TCU is 11-1, Kansas State is 11-1. 60% of Big 12 top teams have lost a COMBINED total of FIVE games to non-Big 12 teams.

The old Big East was awesome, but the current Big 12, if you look at the record objectively, is better from top to bottom. They are both great, but the Big 12 is better from top to bottom. The numbers prove it.

In contrast, #1 St. John's lost 3 games, #2 Georgetown 1, #3 Syracuse 2, #4 Villanova 3, #5 Pitt 4, #6 Boston College 2. That's a COMBINED total of FIFTEEN by the top 6.

Again, Big East was the best of its time. Big 12 is better today, top to bottom.

By the way, ESPN's analytics has today's Big 12 #1, ACC #2 and Big East #3 in conference strength.

Until the big 12 starts winning national titles you can't compare it to the old big east

Kansas won its FIFTH national title in 2008. Surely, that counts.

Baylor has two national titles in women's basketball.
The cupboard is not bare.
Like it or not, today's Big 12 - -- TOP TO BOTTOM -- is better than the old Big East, which had fantastic teams in the penthouse but not all that much at the bottom, as the numbers I presented show.

Since we left the Big east 3 of are former rivals have won the national championship. The old big east was a much larger conference. You could argue that the bottom of the big 12 is stronger than that the old big east but the top of the old big east was much stronger than the big 12. How many teams besides Kansas have been consistent players on the national stage? Not sure why you bring up Baylor's women's team. Do there accomplishments come close to Uconn's women? until the big 12 starts having consistent success in the tourney you cant claim that they were better than the old big east.

I agree with ColoradoMountaineer. Winning national titles makes a huge difference!

Cuyahoga, your fact-checking skills are really getting rusty. The 2008 national title was the third for Kansas in basketball (1952, 1988, 2008), not its fifth. They have lost in the final on 6 other occasions (1940, 1953, 1957, 1991, 2003, 2012).

The only other team who has ever been part of the Big 12 that won a national championship in basketball is Oklahoma St, and it was so long ago that none of the last 4 presidents had been born yet. In other words, from a title standpoint this conference is a one-trick pony.

Still not sure how to determine that for sure, probably never will ( conference strength ). The post season ( tournament) in basketball certainly is a better measure than the bowl season in football. In college Football many times there is a let down and sometimes a lack of inspiration with the bowls ( not enthusiastic about the bowl for a particular team ). That certainly is not the case with the college basketball tournament. The last several years the tournament, if used as one of the criterias for conference strength would prove otherwise. Let's see what happens this year.

The 1984-85 Big East had the National Title Winner, the National Runner-up, and THREE teams in the Final Four. The Big 12 has had ONE Final Four team since WVU joined the conference five years ago, but thanks for playing, CFE!
