Well, I didn't do one for Texas due to work, and well...it was Texas. We knew what we were going up against, and we sure didn't step down. Hated that we went 1-2, but all three games were dogfights and I wouldn't count us out if we meet this team in the Big XII tourney (and it could be very likely).
As for Baylor...
Baylor Bears
(7-12, 0-3 Big XII)
RPI: 112
Best RPI Win: Kent State 2 out of 3 (RPI is 62, and we lost to them in Myrtle Beach)
Bad RPI Loss: Hawaii (239)
Last Week: 0-4 (lost to Dallas Baptist, swept by TCU)
I think we may be in for a rough weekend in Waco. Baylor has played quite a few nobodies, but they have shown up against the good teams they have played. Law of averages would suggest they are due a streak. We've had an interesting series against the Bears as we won a memorable 9-8 Game 1 in 2013, then proceeded to lose the next two. Last year, we won our 2 regular season meetings, but lost to the Bears in the tourney, which likely was the cause of our snubbing for Regionals. They also don't appear to have a high-run-scoring threat at the moment as they've yet to eclipse 10 runs in a game (we did that just today). If there ever was an opportunity this year to sweep a team, Baylor may be it for us. Second straight week in Texas, though, I would say a long shot at best. I can definitely see two wins as a possibility, because we need them and we went toe-to-toe with a much better Texas squad. If we leave Waco with a 2-1 record, we get to start our "homestand" (if you want to call it that before 4-10) on a higher note. Anything less and we will likely have a bad taste in our mouths and pressure to not end up the lone team out at the end of the season. Ask K-State last year and Texas the year before. It is very hard to get out of the cellar once you're down there in conference play.
We are going to be ramping up what had been an already tough schedule into a murderer's row in the near future. Charleston Southern will not be a pushover, a couple Texas teams, OU, Butler (which may be the weakest team we play the rest of the year apart from Marshall), then the TCUs, TTs, OSUs...it doesn't get any easier now folks!
I'll likely be out of these for the next few weeks but I don't really have a copyright on this, so if someone wants to take it over (Sota, WVU82, Vernon paying me in subscriptions...lol), feel free!
